This shoe has been great on the paved roads. For a while I didn't have access to the dirt trails as I would of hoped and these shoes have saved me for miles and miles. They have been perfect for not only regular miles but most importantly my long runs. I've also used them when I've had to travel and done a lot of walking and they give so much support.
The one shoe that allows me to run despite small pains. I use this one for long interval training sessions and all easy running.
As an older runner, Hoka Bondi 5 protect my knees by making each step feel soft and easy.
Solved my plantar fasciitis
I love these shoes! They take awhile to get used to, but they offer maximum cushioning and allowing for a lot of long, slower long runs. I typically switch shoes to my cliftons if I'm doing a speed workout, but these work as well! I think that anyone not running in these shoes because they look too "clunky" should seriously reconsider it. You will not be disappointed!
They are great in every way but only last about 225 miles. Heel starts to wear around 150 miles.
Started running in Hokas when diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both hips. Went almost two years before I had one replaced. Two years after the replacement I will running my second Boilermaker in my Bondis. This winter the other hip gets replaced and I expect to be in the Boilermaker in 2021 in a new pair. Heredity is inevitable, but with the reduced impact I can still keep going.
Great shoe! Nicely cushioned, lightweight, and great road feel. These shoes reduce the toll the miles take on my body. They are great for long, low-intensity runs and also shorter, faster paced runs.
Great shoe. Makes running feel easier than traditional shoes.
I found this for a great price and thought it was worth giving a shot. It was my first experience with Hoka. I've run in a kinds of shoes since getting free ones in college, some right for me, some not.
I trust that shoe companies all make wearable running shoes and my feet haven't had a problem handling anything... Until now.
They are certainly bulky. It's funny that I can't change my shorts or pants without taking them off first. But immediately on a shake out run to break them in my feey started burning. It got so intense I had to take them off and walk home. I doubled up my socks and kept at it thinking thay after a while prehaps it would go away. It didn't. I got up to 50 miles and I was thoroughly pissed. I eventually switched out the insole with a retired pair of Ons, and that made them runnable, sort of. I tried doing some slightly uptempo stuff in them as I thought it best to keep my runs in them short. Both of my feet cramped up terribly and again I had to take them off and walk home. I find it pretty astounding that a company that specializes in running shoes could make something so challenging to run in.
I like the cushoining as a recovery for my aging joints after track sessions. This is all they are good for to me.
