Overall, I love this shoe. I’ve got the same pair 4 times now and can generally get to around 500 miles before needing a new pair. While I’ve found them to be slightly heavier than other shoes, they make up for it in how I feel after my runs. My legs and feet feel less beat up and more refreshed, allowing me to train better the next day. Overall a great shoe and I will be buying again.
The Brooks Glycerin shoe is one of the best shoes for running. Each stride that I take in these always are more cushiony than my previous shoe. As a former XC runner i highly recommend these to all people and all sports. They are kind of expensive, but take my word, it is worth it!
Switched to glycerin due to foot issues and needing a wider shoe. Worked like a champ and great cushioning. Now Brooks needs to offer some wider widths in a racer.
The shoe has big slabs of foam and is soft. It's pretty durable due to all the rubber on the outside. It's relatively stable due to high side walls. But it's heavy and runs a bit small (I went a half size up). I found my shoes for $60. They have bizarre colors that are bright and ugly. But even so for the prize good shoe.
The Glycerins are amazing, especially for people with high arches, and they feel springy and cushion-y, especially during long-middle distance runs. They are also quite comfortable as dailies, even though where they really stand out is support during running. It is also the shoe that stopped my chronic knee pain when running.
I switched to these from Hoka's, which didn't seem to hold up well after a couple of months. I did a foot evaluation at my local Fleet Feet and they suggested the Glycerins. I am now running in my 4th straight pair! I love the comfort and durability of these shoes. They provide just a bit of stability but not enough to notice. Great trainer and I highly recommend.
Try it if you want cushion
I have a wide flat foot so I wear an orthotic. The wide version of this shoe does not have a wider base, it only has more fabric for the upper. This caused me to turn my ankle when I ran on uneven surfaces. Add on that they have a higher stack height like a lot of other shoes these days and my ankle did not feel good. I like the shoe a lot otherwise, I would get it again if I had a normal width foot and ran on roads.
I have wore both the Brooks Ghost and the Glycerin. I like both. Both help with my Achilles issues. Glycerin has more cushion the entire shoe. Both come in wide which is good for both Achilles and Hagland Deformity issues.
Nike Pegasus is Awful..
Hoka was like runing in a Lincoln town car.. Heavy and slow..
Ghost or Glycerin... Brooks.. Enough said.. Lace em up
