Been wearing these for over 10 years. Love them. Get a new pair every year.
I've worn every version of this shoe since it came out back in the 90's and the last few versions have not been great. Sizing problems and lack of durability have been the biggest issues. With these shoes I'm barely able to get 300-400 miles out of a pair.
history of knee and achilles problems that don't rear their ugly head near as often when wearing the GT-2000's.
The longevity of this shoe makes it a constant in the workout routine. It does not break down and gives that first week’s feel after months of wear.
To be clear, I have been an ASICS fanatic for 25 years (~20 marathons) and have never had a single injury. I have been running in the GT-2000 for ~ 10 years - I love the shoe, but the shoe doesn't love me anymore. So, here's the WARNING: ASICS made a MAJOR design change for the GT-2000 6, significantly tightening/stiffening/narrowing/raising the heel (it is basically pinching your achilles when you put them on and then when you run in them the top of the shoe will jam into the back of your achilles). The ISSUE with this is that it brings the back of the shoe into your achilles and it destroys it. The end result is the shoe caused ACHILLES TENDONITIS that has put me on the sidelines for 3 months (and cost me a lot of time and money). This is HUGELY disappointing to me because I have been buying 2 pairs of the GT-2000 every year for years and now need to find something new. I would urge ASICS to test this out - as currently designed, it will cause other people the same problem. Ugh.
After always getting nagging blisters on the outside of my feet with Brooks shoes, I switched to these and never went back. Feels almost the same, just never had issues with pinkie-rubbing on the outside.
The Asics GT-2000 is a solid shoe that I've used for years. The shoe is comfortable and supportive enough for me (moderate support needed). I do wish the shoe was more durable, as it seems to break down perhaps earlier than some other shoes I've used in the past--even earlier models of the GT-2000.
I loved the shoe while it lasted. Great cushioning and very comfortable. The post of the shoe seemed to stay supportive for a long time. Unfortunately, the fabric near the toe is thin and eventually i found some holes in it. Within a week they essentially turned into sandals, and i was forced to buy a pair of gt-2000 5. Which have a better fabric design.
This shoe has been good for me over many years. It is pretty consistent, and it's comfortable.
This shoe works really well for me. I have flat feet and heel strike; these shoes compensate well for that in my experience. They have gotten much lighter over the years but I have noticed they show wear more quickly. If you are looking for a stability shoe I would highly recommend it as I've never had an issue with them.
