Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh (2.10m) breaks 37-year-old high jump world record in Paris
By Robert JohnsonUkraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the 2022 world indoor and 2023 world outdoor champ, has a new title on her CV – world record holder. Mahuchikh was sensational at the Paris Diamond League today – the 2024 Meeting De Paris – as she broke Bulgaria’s Stefka Kostadinova’s 37-year-old high jump world record of 2.09m with a first attempt clearance of 2.10.

Earlier in the competition, Mahuchikh needed two attempts to get over 1.95, 2.01, and 2.03. With the competition won, she first set her sights on a personal best (2.07) which she got on attempt #2 before getting the World record on her first attempt.
“I could feel it – I had a feeling I can do it. Yesterday, I planned (in my head) 2.07 and after that (I thought) I can jump 2.10,” said Mahuchikh on the CNBC broadcast after the jump.
