Meet The SLOWEST 2024 Paris Olympians

Citius, altius, fortius – Faster, higher, stronger – is the motto of the Olympic Games. But not everyone can be the fastest. What if the motto of the Games was “Tardior, inferior, debilior” – Slower, lower, weaker?

Below we show you the slowest Olympic qualifiers for all of the mid-d and distance events in Paris. For each middle distance or distance track event, we list the athletes that got in on World Ranking and have run the slowest. We’ve also listed those that were given a Universality Place as their country’s only Olympic track and field entrant.

Most of those athletes are still quite fast. And it’s way better to make it than not make it all. Speaking of which, there are two US track and field Olympians who wouldn’t be Olympians in 2024 if they were British as the British don’t send everyone eligible to go – they have stricter requirements than the IOC. The following two US Olympians are in Paris but are below the British standards.

Erin Reese – Women’s Hammer Throw

Curtis Thompson – Men’s Javelin

It’s sad the British wouldn’t take Curis Thompson. He’s ranked #14 out of 32 entered in Paris but his sb of 83.04m is below the 83.79 British standard.
