We recap Saturday's action where Noah Lyles and Gabby Thomas won the 200s and Weini Kelati won the 10,000m with Parker Valby 2nd.
The US has been utterly dominant in the 200m this year as the top 9 women in the world are all Americans and the leader of that group is Gabby Thomas.
Fans have to feel for Christain Coleman who ran 9.93 and 19.89 in Eugene but didn't make the 100m or 200m teams.
Last year's Jamaican champion Oblique Seville was second in 9.82 and Ackeem Blake third (9.92).

Despite hitting the 8th hurdle, Holloway ran 12.86 in the first race where three men broke 13.00.

The 2022 world champion withdrew from the Britis trials on Friday and will need a lot of help to make it to the Olympics. "It’s all completely out of his control now," Geoff Wightman to LRC. "It depends on results on the weekend. For 1500, there’s almost no chance because it’s first two plus Josh and the first two are very likely to have the standard."
The women's steeplechase was legendary as the top 9 women all ran a pb.
Everyone who thought the US steeple was in a bad place is wrong. Val Constien got the in in 9:03 as PRs were set left and right behind her.

Centro confirms he has run his last track race and helps us break down the Trials so far. Plus, he tell us who is the 2024 Olympic favorite.
The oft-injured super talent appears to be in supreme form. Can he stay healthy?
This means Wightman's chances of competing in Paris could be slim. The British system gives one discretionary spot (already going to Josh Kerr in the 1500m and world bronze medalist Ben Pattison in the 800m) and then first two across the line get automatic selection if they have the standard. So Wightman has to hope someone finishes top two who doesn't have the standard and then he could possibly be given another discretionary spot.

Time does a lengthy profile/interview with Lyles where they write that Paris is "set to go down as the Noah Lyles Games." If he can repeat his performance from 2023 Worlds, he'll be the first man since Usain Bolt to pull off the Olympic sprint triple gold and the first American since Carl Lewis 40 years ago.
We preview the women's 1500, 10k, and steeple and men's 800 and 5k as the second half of the Trials kicks off on Thursday.
Thompson-Herah injured her Achilles at the NYC Grand Prix earlier this month (she says it's a small tear) and won't race the Jamaican Trials.

Thanks to Nuguse, the times were fast as places 3-8 all ran PBs but Hocker owned the last 250m.
Allie Wilson & collegian Juliette Whittaker rounded out the team after Mu's devastating fall at the 200m mark.

What a crazy night at the Trials. Quick recaps, results, and video.
Elle St. Pierre edged Elise Cranny for the win as Karissa Schweizer got 3rd as the top 3 all broke the championship record leaving NCAA phenom Parker Valby 4th despite a PR.
More Day 4 Talk:
Associate head coach Heather Burroughs is also out. This a year after there were complaints about and an investigation into Wetmore and the program's use of body composition analysis. During his time at Colorado, Wetmore has lead the team to eight NCAA XC titles and had five individual XC champions.
Lyles tied his pb by running 9.83 with Kenny Bednarek (9.87) and Fred Kerley (9.88) joining him on the team to Paris, while Coleman was 4th in 9.93.
Kenneth Rooks in the king of the US steeple now, Matthew Wilkinson is a real life Cinderella, and so may be James Corrigan who stunned everyone to get third with Evan Jager likely still going to the Olympics in 4th. Hillary Bor had a devastating fall.
Kenneth Rooks put on an impressive performance in the steeple, Quincy Wilson set another high school record in the 400 and made the final, Kendall Ellis captured the 400m, and Athing Mu and Raevyn Rogers made the 800 final but Ajee' Wilson didn't for the first time since 2012

Richardson won in a world-leading 10.71 and went 1-2-3 with Dennis Mitchell-coached training partners Melissa Jefferson & TeeTee Terry.
There is more to the Sha'Carri Richardson of 2024 than greatness and joy. There is growth, there is understanding, there is appreciation. "I’ve grown [into] a better understanding of myself, a deeper respect and appreciation for my gift that I have in the sport," Richardson said.
Yared Nuguse tied the Olympic Trials record in the 1500 to lead qualifying for the final as Cole Hocker looked sharp to setup a mouth watering final.
Noah Lyles looked amazing, so did Yared Nuguse and Cole Hocker, as the high school kid Christian Miller struggled with his start but showed some poise.
After finishing 2nd, 2nd, and 4th the last three years, Fisher finally won the US 10k title, taking off with 1k to go and using a 4:06 final 1600 to break the field, as Woody Kincaid was 2nd and Nico Young held off a gutsy run by Drew Hunter to finish third. The battle for 3rd was anti-climatic as Paul Chelimo fell off over the final mile so the battle for 3rd meant nothing thanks to there not being quota allocation spots on the track.
Wilson took down a 42-year-old record and won his heat with the second-fastest time of the day. He also broke Justin Robinson's world U18 record of 44.84.

His agent Ricky Simms told LetsRun it was due to a hamstring injury. "He tried to do some strides yesterday, but it’s just not letting him go," Simms said.
We share the 6 biggest storylines for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials — Track & Field. Who is the fastest man and woman in America? Can SML and Grant Holloway break the WRs? How do Athing Mu and Ryan Crouser look in their 2024 outdoor debuts? And what happens in the greatest event in track - the men's 1500?
Parker Valby has dominated the NCAA level in 2024 but can she run away from everyone at the pro ranks? If not, does she have the kick needed to make the team?
Right now, Sha'Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles are favorites for Olympic gold. Will that still be the case after this weekend's 100s? Could 18-year-old Christian Miller really make the team? What shoes will Fred Kerley wear?

Knighton had been provisionally suspended since April 12 after testing positive for the banned substance trenbolone -- the same substance for which Jarrion Lawson was banned (and subsequently cleared). Article includes statements from USADA head Travis Tygart as well as Knigton's lawyer Howard Jacobs.
From Kara Goucher to Clayton Murphy, Evan Jager to Andrew Wheating, dozens of US Olympians have the Olympic rings on their body. Here are their stories.
The league has signed up Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who has only run 4 Diamond Leagues in her life, to commit to doubling at 4 meets a year. There will be six event groups per sex (no field events) with 48 athletes getting base contracts to double in all four meets (one in LA, other locations TBD). Winners of the combined events scoring will get $100k per meet down to $10k for 8th. The first meet is scheduled for April 2025. What's surprising is the events groups are totally siloed off. So with this format, Michael Johnson would never have faced his 200m rivals Frankie Fredericks or Ato Boldon in the 200 as Johnson would be in the 200/400 group and Boldon/Fredericks in the 100/200 group. So Sydney will never face Marileidy Paulino or Athing Mu in the 400 as they'll be in the 200/400 and 800/1500 groups while she'll be in the 400h/400 group.
Competing against legends Kipchoge Keino and Ron Clarke in the 1964 Olympic final in Tokyo, Schul used a 38.7-second final 300m to win an iconic gold medal. His daughter confirmed his death to LetsRun.
