Nur was great over the last 1k as Woody Kincaid's big kick was nowhere to be seen and Grant Fisher was a DNS. The women's 5000 was a carbon copy of the 10,000 with Cranny a dominant winner.

Hoppel repeated while Akins made her first team in style. Ajee' Wilson's streak of making teams ended as she finished dead last.

Has the US found two new potential steeple stars? Plus learn about 31-year old journeyman who just made his first team.

Joe Waskom 2nd, Cole Hocker 3rd. Waskom doesn't have the Worlds standard but after Saturday his ranking should be high enough to go to Budapest.

Cory McGee was 3rd, edging Sinclaire Johnson by .01, but Johnson could go to Worlds if Mu focuses on the 800 only.

The Tracksmith-sponsored Charleston, who has no shoe sponsor, was running his first US final. Richardson overcame a slow start to win in 10.82.

The 800 semis always provide drama and that certainly was true on Friday night as both of Stanford's freshman phenoms failed to advance, Will Sumner got the job done, Nia Akins looked amazing and a surprise men's semi winner, Wes Ferguson, was tossed out.

Kincaid and Cranny were incredible over the final 200m to win the US titles. 3rd placers Natosha Rogers & Sean McGorty don't have the standard and will have to wait to see if they're headed to Worlds.

Reigning US champ Cooper Teare was eliminated from the 1500 on day 1 in a shock upset as Matthew Centrowitz made the final and Yared Nuguse was sublime. In the women's 1500, Addy Wiley looked great and Athing Mu PR'd. Will Sumner returned to form in the 800 where Nia Akins looked fantastic. Courtney Frerichs fell but advanced in the steeple.

Richardson's time was the fastest by an American in 12 years.

Bummer: No Wightman Vs Ingebrigtsen Rematch

Wightman said, “As a result of my injury, I’ve had to deal with several more set backs as I prepared to race this Summer. I’ve always felt as though time has been on my side to overcome my problems fully, however it has finally run out. This means I’m sadly going to be unable to compete at Worlds which has been really gutting to come to terms with.”

Will Sumner is super talented but he's also super young so we think a veteran will win this one.

Between Grant Fisher, Paul Chelimo, Woody Kincaid, Joe Klecker, and Abdihamid Nur, there is a lot of talent in these fields which means someone very good could be left off the team.
