18-year-old Niels Laros would have the American high school records at 800m, 1500 AND 5000m. The only reason you may not have heard of him is he is Dutch. Update. Laros just ran 3:32.89 for 1500.

    2023 Bislett Games

    What a track and field meet. Jakob Ingebrigtsen ran 3:27.95 as 8 men went sub 3:30 including Yared Nuguse in an American record time* of 3:29.02. In the men's 5000m, Yomif Kejelcha and Jacob Kiplimo both ran 12:41.73 with Kejelcha getting the win.

    New Balance and Nike High School Nationals are this weekend and we preview five storylines to watch.

    Only the Lithuanian Lukas Verzbicas has run faster while a US HSer (8:29.46). Birnbaum's future Oregon teammate Connor Burns also ran 8:34. Watch the final lap above. Sophomore Jane Hedengren of Provo, Utah, won the girls mile in a meet record of 4:35.69, Shawnti Jackson won the girls 100m in 11.00 as an 8th grade boy ran 1:54 for 800.

    For the third straight NCAA championship, a Washington Husky won the men’s 1500/mile. And, just like last year’s outdoor championship and this year’s indoor championship, tonight’s winner was a first-time champion.

    Robinson became the first man to sweep the 5k/10k at NCAAs since Edward Cheserek in 2016.
