Lamecha Girma capped the Paris Diamond League with an impressive 7:52.11 world record on an night that saw 3 world records (see below). We break that down and the other non world record highlights including Sydney McLaughlin-Lavrone getting beat at 400, Keely Hodgkinson getting a PB and Noah Lyles a big 100 win.

    Faither Kipyegon became the first woman under 3:50 for 1500m, Shawnti Jackson went super-fast, so did Addy Wiley, Noah Lyles met Usain Bolt and 3 Americans went sub 12:57 and 4 high schoolers sub 4 and we barely mention them.

    Wiley, who shocked the track world by last summer by deciding to attend an NAIA school instead of Colorado, shocked a field of professionals thanks to a 61.33 last lap. Full race video embedded.

    She beat a field of pros (including last year's NCAA champ Melissa Jefferson) to break Briana Williams' 10.94 prep record from 2019.

    (link fixed) Mondo Duplantis set a PV meet record at 6.11m (he missed his three attempts at a new WR of 6.23m) and Femke Bol won the 400m in 50.11. Grant Holloway won the 110H in 13.03 over Devon Allen (13.12) and Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh the HJ in 2.00m.

    Less than six weeks after winning the London Marathon, Hassan closed in 60.86 to put almost 10 seconds on Kenya's World XC 4th placer Grace Loibach Nawowuna over the final lap.

    High school record holder Rudy Chapa had actually sent Gorze his high school singlet from 1976 to wear while he attempted the record, but Gorze fell well short of Chapa's 28:32.7. Gorze was on pace through halfway, but suffered through a coughing fit which saw him run an 82-second lap. He finished 9th in the race won by On Running's Athanas Kioko in 27:29. In other action, Colleen Quigley (9:32) and US Army's Bernie Keter (8:22) won the steeplechases and Weynshet Ansa Weldestadisk (32:40) won the women's 10,000m.

    Lightfoot had only broken the six meter barrier once in his career, but had a big PB here to break Sam Kendricks' 6.06m American record from 2019. Lightfoot also moves to #3 on the world all-time list behind Mondo Duplantis and Sergey Bubka.
