The middle miles were the fastest in race history and the finish was one for the ages as there were 7 lead changes in the final 1.2 miles.
Evans Chebet blasted a 13:55 5k from 35k to 40k to get the win in Boston as Scott Fauble executed a great race to be first American in 7th in 2:08:52 .
Fauble took a risk by leaving HOKA and entering 2022 unsponsored with new coach Joe Bosshard. On Monday, it paid off with a 2:08:52 pb.
Fred Kerley (19.8) edged Michael Norman in the 200, as Micah Williams (9.83+2.5) and Twanisha Terry (10.77+3.3) won windy 100s. Gabby Thomas ran 22.02 just 24 minutes after running 10.86w as Bryce Hoppel (1:47.27) and Raevyn Rogers (1:58.77) won the 800s as Athing Mu split 50.43. *WA Recap

Charles Philibert-Thiboutot (13:35) set a Canadian road 5k record to win the men's 5k while Annie Rodenfels took the women's mile.
Heather MacLean (3:14.92), Kendall Ellis (52.05), high schooler Roisin Willis (2:03.30), and Elle Purrier St. Pierre (4:23.55) crushed the indoor record and ran faster than the outdoor record, too.

The American record holder at 5000 reacts to the Canadian record holder at 5000 leaving the Bowerman Track Club, saying in part, "I never wanted to have a negative impact on anyone in my decision to continue training and it hurts that I’m finding out that I did."
