In the eradication of smallpox? Nope. In pushing for better water supplies so that you, in your status as a citizen of a developed nation, no longer suffer from bouts of cholera and dysentery? Nope. In the near reduction to zero incidence of childhood diseases like Measles, Mumps, Rubella, H. influenzae, Parvovirus, etc., etc.? Nope. Reducing the incidence of invasive streptococcal disease? Nope.
Jesus. It's always the spoiled 1st nation folks that bitch and moan about medical science failing. Are there shortcomings to the medical field? Certainly. Just as there are in any field (although the stakes are higher in medicine). But what most people get upset about is a product of selfish business men who prod and poke the administration of medicine on a huge scale. It is not medicine's fault, it's the corruption of its administration for financial gain. It's a developed world paradox in the US. No more soapbox, save to say that the things you take for granted by medical science are more numerous than the stars and if you had any idea of the sufferings of those in lower- and lowest-income countries, you'd realize that medical science is one of the few things not failing in this world.
