Steve Spence's sub-5 streak is over and so is the streak for Employee 1.1.
Employee 1.1 just called me and told me he had bad news to report - he didn't break 5 for the mile on Monday as he didn't actually run a full mile.
Yesterday i had called him to get personal recap of his alleged sub-5 which featured some crazy splits and said something near the end of our conversation of, "You should go run one on a regular track in January just to remove any doubt anyone has about the measurements of your sub-5."
I guess that got him thinking as he said he had an epiphany while sitting on the toilet, "I didn't actually run a full-mile." He said he was replaying the race in his head and realized he didn't run 6+ laps. He says he knows it's more more than 6 laps to a mile and the video shows he only ran like 5.75 laps.
Plus he said if you go back and time each lap , they make no sense. He doesn't pick it up enough to make up for the slowdown.
So kudos for the honesty. He sounded pretty down about it and was pissed that he didn't get a chance to go back on Tuesday and try again as he thought he'd done it on the 30th.
I told him to brighten up. When he told me he had bad news to report, I thought it was going to be a death in the family.
