Had no idea that his brother plays professional baseball.
Who is his agent?
He just got drafted. Not sure if he's signed yet

How much did he sign for? I wish they'd make these things public.
Hey, cant win NCAA's, might as well go pro!
Seriously, though, I am surprised he went pro only because im not sure why he decided to go pro now rather than a year ago. To me, it would have made more sense either a year ago or 1 or 2 years from now.
He obviously wanted to go compete in NCAA for some reason, following in his dad's (and brother's) footsteps by competing for LSU. He presumably didnt go there for their educational reputation. So why now? He set the collegiate record, so that's a big box checked, but he didnt get the outdoor win, surely that was one of his goals?
Obviously anybody with a PR over 6 meters is very much qualified to go compete as a pro. He also tends to do well when it matters, his 2nd place at NCAAs was still a good competition for him, he has jumped to form in his worlds appearances, euro champs setting a new PR, winning junior worlds champs, etc, he really doesn't have any off days, so that will help him as a pro.
My guess is he made the deal before NCAA championships, but the deal didnt become official until after NCAA was over for compliance reasons. He was probably assuming he would win outdoors.
Anybody have a different take?
Historically, IMO this is the best the world PV field has been, after a bit of a slump in the 2000s. Renaud's peak couple of years were nice for him, but there are a half dozen guys that have risen to about that level over the past 5 years, and mondo is joining them.
Having his name in the record books, adding NCAA INDOOR champion to his resume, all adds to his stock. He's going pro now because he has all summer to accept prize money at diamond league meets, and also can compete at a world championships this summer, and then the olympics next summer. Last summer there was no world championships, so it wasn't worth as much contract wise last summer to be paid. But now the stage will be bigger at the world championships and olympics so sponsors like Puma are willing to pay good money to have their athlete on the podium there. So it makes perfect sense to go pro now. And I wouldn't be shocked if the South Dakota guy went pro, too. He doesn't have as great of a PR as Mondo though. Mondo's has vaulted higher then South Dakota guy's PR multiple times. It just happened to be at NCAA championships that he had his best jump ever, and Mondo didn't have his best jump ever.
Is he living in Sweden permanently yet?

Boy is staying in Louisiana and likely practicing at LSU (get hired as volunteer coach). But yeah bank account probably loading up in kronor.
This kid’s contract has to be for a little bit of money ? Seven digits a year ?

Uh yeah should be lucky to get 6 digits. Polve vault is a fringe event
Mondo is a part Swede who lives in the US, who grew up here, so basically a mercenary.
Fringe event but not fringe athlete. Has a great social media presence and good following due to milesplit etc.
I’ll throw out 750 k
how many shoes will he sell? Very few people make 6 figures and even fewer have that guaranteed There are really good NBA players making significantly less than that and they are well known in a very visible sport.

Am hearing right at $1M/year for Duplantis signed through 2025. Typical performance clauses.

Actually the minimum salary for an NBA player is 800k+ per year, and those are the guys who get 0 time. And Mondo is top 5 all time already at 19 years old in the pole vault. A high 6-figure maybe even 7-figure contract would not be crazy, especially with a company like Puma who does not have a lot of top-end athletes.
very few NBA players make that much on footwear contracts... many play for shoes and equipment plus an all star bonus only.
very few runners worldwide make the kind of $$ you seem to think they do. this is a business and EVERY contract is scrutinized to determine profitability to the brand. I'd struggle to see how mondo can sell a shoe anywhere. it's no longer about brand relevance and marketing, it's totally about the bottom line P&L.

These things are public, but some times it takes a little more than just doing a general google search.
