I was just thinking the same thing. There is no way Prefontaine will match this meet. Plus, I saw several former great athletes around the event. I was having the best of both worlds! Got to have a brief chat with the legendary Carl Lewis!
Almost IAAF caliber.
Almost IAAF caliber.
The winners of those straightaway races were Olympic medal caliber.
Did you invite him out to karaoke?
The weather and the borderline wind is so crucial. Can they do nationals for the explosive events in the south and do long distance out west?
1:44.41
Even Fray at 2:01, Ajee didn't run much faster in Rome and the next best woman was 2:02. The 4:05/6 by Johnson and Hull in those conditions were crazy. I'll cut the other distance races some slack since it was hot and the races had no pacers but I think McDonald would be the only one who could shake it up on the DL scene anyways.

Pre-kissing Phil Knight's ass, NCAA D-1 T&F National Championship used to move around the country. There are not enough decent hotels in Eugene, OR. It's time to take NCAA D-1 T&F National Championship back to Chicago, IL. At least there are plenty of great hotels and great restaurants in Chicago.

Unless you want to get shot, mugged or flat-out murdered in the murder capital of obama's state. I wish I could log into your username to see if this isn't a joke.

What is wrong with you? What would my location tell you?
Sport events happen nearly every day in Chicago. I used to follow both White Sox and Cubs schedules. I do not know if still true, they used to alternate home and away games or alternate day and night games. If I recall, about 15 stops on the red line separate Wrigley and formerly known as Comiskey. In years past, one could be a ticket holder for both White Sox and Cubs. Do you hear about fans at Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs or other sport events getting mugged or murdered on a regular basis? McCormick Place in Chicago is known as one of the best convention centers in U.S. Before L.A. County in CA began buying surrounding real estate, Chicago was the second largest city in U.S. Chicago is the commodity trading capital of the world. Derivative trading in Chicago is the tail that wags the dog regarding U.S. financial markets.
People go to school and go to work and live their lives regularly in Chicago with no harm. You do know if you search a little, there are many cities and towns in U.S. with crime per capita and murder per capita far higher than Chicago, IL. Chicago, IL is very important to U.S. U.S. needs Chicago. So we can alternate locations: De Paul U., University of Chicago, Chicago State U. and University of IL-Chicago.

So which of these has not been done in a prefontaine classic? Not that I care about that meet, but most of these times (DL doesn't do relays) are pretty ordinary there. Even disregarding that it's early season for the pros whereas college athletes are peaking at NCAAs, in light of which the seven DL records is no little thing.
Wherever Nike makes its athletes compete seriously will have lots of good performances. Better venue comparison will be what happens at Stanford this year.
The doping controls in that meet even are nonexistent. Truely worldclass of usa doping
But can you not admit these are world class times?

They are great times. The majority of these athletes were likely peaking for this meet in early June, not for World Championships in October like many pros on the DL circuit right now. Let's see how many of the NCAA athletes aren't burned out come the fall.
