Mandatory vasectomies to prevent abortion

More seriously it would be interesting to see what happens if Vasalgel or any of the other male contraceptives actually makes it to market. Vasectomies are just to high risk to do on people expecting to have kids in the future. I have no clue how many guys would take charge of contraception (and it might be the same group that uses condoms effectively) but it seems like the best chance to drastically reduce unwanted pregnancy. We aren't getting better female contraception and I sort of doubt guys are going to get better at using condoms.

This should only apply to people who lack the financial means to take care of an unwanted kid. Just give the forced vasectomies to people from families that fall below some minimum income threshold.

Instead of sabotaging human anatomy or poisoning human physiology, it would be better to inculcate a greater respect for sex and avoidance of sex out of wedlock. In the USA, more than 80% of all direct abortions are to unmarried women, and of the married women, some are pregnant by a man who is not their husband. Direct abortion in the USA is overwhelmingly a consequence of sex out of wedlock.

Besides, in the USA for example, the rise in the use of artificial birth control drugs and devices was accompanied by a doubling of the divorce rate, a huge increase in the out-of-wedlock birth rate AND a huge increase in direct abortions plus a big increase in STDs (including one the became not just an epidemic but a pandemic).

The USA went from a 5-7% out-of-wedlock birth rate in the early 1960s when direct abortion was illegal to about 41% today when direct abortion is legal and widespread. This is the exact opposite of what proponents for artificial contraception and abortion predicted.

Even advocates for abortion say it has had dire consequences. Economists George Akerlof, Janet Yellen and Michael Katz published a paper in 1996. Akerlof went on to share the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in 2001. Michael Katz was a professor at UC Berkeley and Janet Yellen, who is married to Akerlof, was Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and in the media daily. All three identified themselves as supporters of legal abortion. Yet they concluded in this paper that the widespread availability of (artificial) contraceptives and (direct) abortion has created a technological shock and disarmed the "shotgun marriage" which has increased the out-of-wedlock birth rate and increased poverty among women and children.
