Spencer Brown, commonly known as the “Athlete Special” just ran a 3:39 for 1500 meters. He closed in 56 and outkicked pros from OTC such as Hassan Mead.
It converts to a 3:57!
Thoughts? Think he can go pro? Congrats Spencer if you’re reading this!!

no
Let me guess, you struggle with the ladies?
What a strong finish! Ran by 3 in last 55m. What was his 1/2 mile from week before?
Pretty sure it should convery to 3:56-high (last 109 should take about16.mid/high seconds)

My thoughts? When I read "Athlete Special" since I'd never heard of the guy and was trying to figure out why someone was talking about a 3:39 guy, I wondered if we were talking about a Special Olympics or maybe Paralympics guy.

Classic dickhead rojo. Spencer Brown, who runs a YouTube channel called "The Athlete Special" is a redshirt junior at Georgetown. He recently ran 3:39 at Bryan Clay, a significant PR (previous PR was 3:41). People are talking about him because he has a lot of fans on YouTube and it's nice to see him run fast.
As far as going pro he couldn't get a big contract right now but he's definitely got a shot, especially if he cuts some more time next year or has a very high finish at NCAAs (definitely a possibility with his strong finish).
before we all hate on rojo, consider that not everybody on letsrun watches every runner's youtube vlogs. there'd be no reason otherwise for rojo to be all that aware of spencer brown
Stop trying to get free press, loser. Go video your self running into a wall.
I think he's a legend, 3:39 is a very very good time for a collegiate, just 4 seconds of the collegiate record. Realistically, he could be running 3:37 by the end of the season and 3:35 is not too far off for his senior season (2020). Olympic trials/Olympic team are also big things that could be very possible for Spencer.
He trains with Joe White (Georgetown) who runs 1:45 and was at the last trials.
hasn't he already been training pretty hard? and the conditions for this race were ideal? so where are those improvements gonna come from? i think he can shave a little more time off and make the trials but i dont know what he will do differently at this point to drop huge chunks of time
Dude runs like 60 mpw and doesn't take it all that seriously(for a 3:39 guy). I think he has room to improve.

Running a message board and being informed about running is HIS JOB.

I knew that dude was gay! The dude is a total narcissist, who runs around with that stuped phone. His dad looks creepy too. I am sick of hearing about what he had for breakfast or who he is sharing a room with.
*stupid
Irony is beautiful.

I can assure you that I'm not Spencer Brown. Why are you hating on the kid anyway? Dude just worked his @$$ off to run 3:39. That's way better than you or I will ever run.

I thought the same thing, rojo. These guys are being overly sensitive.

Spencer-
Congrats on your race. I had never heard of you until this thread. Good self promotion.
By the way, the athlete special is a really lame name. You may want to change it. You make yourself sound really overhyped, only by you.
Also, Rojo was not in the wrong on this one. Spencer, focus on your running and coming up with a bette alter ego.
Maybe, “Athlete still in the closet”?
Best,
Guy concerned for the image you give our sport
He has 12k+ subscribers on YouTube and growing pretty quick. He’s not gonna post on letsrun to promote himself to 20 guys and a racist rojo.

I think it might help contract wise that he’s a growing YouTuber. He’s tripled his subscribers the last 6 months and is growing faster and faster. Self promotion’s gotta help a good bit when it comes to a shoe company wanting exposure.
WTF guys? I’m a 17 year old subscriber to Spencer’s channel. It’s funny to think that all the trolls on here that will never even run under 5 for a mile, much less 3:57 are being so rude to Spencer. He’s a legit guy with a bright future who doesn’t need to self promote to 50 year old has beens.
Peace,
Daniel
