Athing Mu was still full of smiles after her loss. Said her legs didn't feel great and goal was to try and win and go sub 2:00.
Her coach Al Jennings said plan is for Athing to still go to college. As for the loss, he said Athing needs to learn losing is part of her sport. He said her last loss at 800 to non pros was a couple of years ago and she cried after that loss. He told her then, losing was part of the deal and today Athing was full of smiles.
Said they have done some local TV and radio after breaking the American record at 600 but that Athing's workouts have gone very well. A NY Times reporter was on hand and is going to be doing a profile on Athing.
As for the new freshman record holder Roisin Willis, she said she came in running for 2nd, but saw Mu coming back to her at the end of the race.
