Great come from behind win for Ritz. Looks like he is a real contender to make another Olympic team. I wasn’t sure if that was the case.

Great result. Hopefully he can stay healthy and give it a real go at the Olympic trials.
What race was this?

New Orleans Rock n Roll Half. Results aren’t up yet, but Ritz’s time and win were posted on Hanson’s social media.
Yesterday some predicted on the site almost this exact time.
My prediction was off.
The new Brooks 4% shoes came through. Good job Ritz!!!

I’m surprised he ran that fast, good for him. I’m not going to get my hopes up about Ritz for the 20th time just to get them dashed by another pull out right before his next marathon.
Good to see he’s changing things up. Hope he avoids next month’s NYC Half and it’s stupid new course. Stay healthy until Boston.

+1. Hope he stays healthy.
Hanson reports Ritz is 100% healthy and 50% fit. Currently it's 62 degrees with a DP of 54. Given how cold and snowy it's been in the GR area, he dealt with the conditions very well. And as long as he's healthy, the course in Atlanta fits him.
Here are the splits the RnR app provides:
3.1 14:21 4:38
4.4 21:04 5:12
10 46:51 4:37
Finish 1:01:27 4:43
Average 4:42
great news. thanks.
woohoo congrats Ritz, still got it
splits
5K 14:21 4:38 pace
10K 28:44 4:38 pace
10 miles 46:51 4:48 pace
1:01:28 = 4:43 pace

He's got plenty of fast halfs way before carbon springs came out, vaporfly or otherwise:
2015 1:02:07 New York, NY (USA) 15 MAR 2015
2013 1:01:09 New York, NY (USA) 17 MAR 2013
2012 1:00:57 Philadelphia, PA (USA) 16 SEP 2012
2009 1:00:00 Birmingham (GBR) 11 OCT 2009
2008 1:01:38 New York, NY (USA) 28 JUL 2008
The Hyperion Elite is just a carbon spring stuck into a regular Hyperion so it's maybe a 2% shoe at best because it's just EVA but yeah they can definitely ban it too when they ban Vaporflys and all the carbon spring shoes
Look for these when the finish photos are finally posted:

+1. I completely wrote him off in my book. But a 61 minute 1/2 marathon is no joke, and with the men's marathon field being as weak as it is, he has a legitimate shot at making the team. Assuming he stays healthy of course.
I don’t know why you guys wrote him off. Did you learn nothing from Abdi in the 2012 trials? Elite guys can get it back quickly. If Ritz can get to the starting line healthy and it isn’t hot at the trials then he should make the team, but those are slim odds when combined.
RITZ IS BACK BABY!!!!
He'll be injured again in a few days.

You beat me.
1:01-mid when your coach says you're at 50% fitness is awfully good.
Idiots here have been mocking and dismissing Ritz for a long time now, but if he can stay even 2/3 healthy for the next year, he's still FAR AND AWAY our second best 'thoner.
A lot might change in that year, but at this point there's no one anywhere within earshot of Ritzie's ability.
If he gets there in one piece, ALL of the 20 or 30 other guys are gonna be running for *one* spot.

Maybe that's because he has finished one marathon in the last five years.
