People like to make this argument against most successful high school programs. There's probably a sliver of truth to it, but for the most part the claims are usually off-base. People confuse what makes a great high school program with elite success at the NCAA level. They are, for the most part, very different.

Based entirely upon conjecture, and knowing about the running backgrounds of the kids on my kids NXR bound team, my guess tells me that the burnout would come from the kids running well before high school. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I kinda doubt kids just walk on a freshmen and rock. So that burnout is probably more like 8 years of running going into college, not four.
Does a private school like CBA or Bolles have kids burn out more than public Loudoun or others? I know that the hunters preach health, health, health. Do the best high school coaches? I'm assuming so. Does health equate to a mono focused, one sport year round runner , not burning out? Who knows, but doubt it.
