As a fan of the 800m, thanks for the mention.
IAAF has BB's previous best this year at 1:47.84, so his winning time today of 1:45.72 is a big leap back to pertinence. Not far off the stadium record of 1:45.30.
http://live.athleticsireland.ie/event015h01.htmlThat's a great result for him. If he can get down to 1:43 before the year is out, that would be a huge boost going into
next year for the WC.
Murphy is back in form, and is only going to get better. Now if Brazier can get it together, that would give america a strong team for next year.
800m has the potential to be a strong event for the american men like it is with the women. Last year was horrible, so let's see if these guys can get it together.
Terrific, really good to hear. And he won by .7, so he's looking ready for faster still this year. It would be awesome to see him get back down under 1:45 and 1:44 this year. Where's Brazier?

The 800 is my favorite event to watch, coach, race, and train for! I love seeing the US strong!!

I have so much respect for 800m runners. It's such a crazy demand on the body, absolute brut of an event.
good to hear, if he could learn to pace himself better he will be crushing it. it was brutal to watch him get destroyed the last 150 because he went out at sub 1.40 pace.

Rumor has it, Brazier is going to Oregon Project. I don’t feel as though that’s the best fit for him.

I’ve only heard this on the boards, have you seen it somewhere else?
I’m personally not against it, given his current situation, with Francique having been fired and him only having one year left at TAMU, I don’t think it’d be too bad a move to make. Him and Murphy seem to be good friends and almost parallel in terms of potential, you would think they’d be almost perfect training partners. Not only that but Brazier also does have the makings of a great miler and as a fan it would be great to see someone shake something fast out of him in the 15.
I can understand how a lot of people wouldn’t like the decision, and I do think it would be a morally weak one on Braziers part, but on an individual basis, I think it would be a great place for him to develop and really work on moving past his weaknesses.
If he stays in Texas, that’s great too, I’m just hoping to see him back at full health and competing again.
Btw, after all the hype BORIS BERIAN RAN ANOTHER 1:49!
Francique was fired?? Can Brazier still stay with that coach?
He didn't seem to manage too well going from that low-mileage program to a low/mid-mileage program (Johnny) ... I don't see high mileage being great for him.
I just now saw this. Brazier seems like a pretty good training fit with Murphy at NOP because they are both 45-46 caliber 400m runners and both are more than capable of running low 3:50 or better in the mile, as well as 1:42-43 800m.
The bear yawns again.
