Just got the word from Jonathan Gault on site in Eugene, that Edward Cheserek, local hero, the one guy all of us want to know what happened to at Pre, declined all interview requests at Pre and did not talk to the media after his subpar run (in fairness probably 15 guys had a shot at the bell and he finished 15th).
This sucks. The one guy I want to know what's going on with is Ches and now we have no idea.
I believe our sport needs to get with the times, and make talking to the media mandatory at major events. You want your travel paid or prize money or appearance fee? Talk to the media.
Ches's coach Stephen Haas has texted us an update: “He is healthy, a few weeks ago we had to take a week off with a calf strain and we have been going well since. He is in better shape than what was indicated tonight but we didn’t get a chance to do a few things I wanted to do before this race. I think that played a role into not performing up to his capabilities tonight.”
