Ronald had a stress fracture during the race in Monaco, that was not identified immediately. For that reason AK forced him to run WCh without any training after Monaco, and he continued to feel pain in the tibia. After he went Japan for finishing his contract with a Japanese company, and ran an easy race in 3'42" still feeling pain.
He started the preparation in November in Iten, always with the same problem, so, when I was there, I spoke with the management, for organizing a full investigation in Nederland. That investigation showed a bad stress fracture, needing about 3 months for disappearing (normally 7 resting weeks are enough).
Ronald resumed training again at the end of April, running in alternated days. Now is in training for one session per day, and from about 10th June start to increase his training. This means this year is practically over, but with a similar talent, the most important thing is to recover the total efficiency looking at next year.
And, please, when you speak of Ronald let stay EPO very far......
