Bucknam lives in fantasy world. He thinks that if he Says it enough then it will come true.
Two things Bucknam:
1) it was not a national relays championship. No national championships are won because a delusional coach hell bent on wrecking the sport invites a group of schools to compete. That is NOT a national championship.
2) Track Capital of the World - hahahaha! Not since John McDonnel left.
Oh Bucknam, stop patting yourself on the back. Stop trying to destroy track and mid majors. Remember your roots. Remember the only meets that crowds of people that love them. Drake and Penn! Please go away Bucknam so our sport stands a chance.
I bit bizarre to have this meet the same week as Penn and Drake!
There were some good responses on twitter to Robert's question. It looks like 2,100 is the figure.

There were some other funny replies on twitter. I guess not everyone is a fan of the name.
I didn't start this thread but found it interesting A&M went to the meet at LSU instead. I don't know of any of the being the scenes stuff.

I helped out at the Penn Relays this past weekend and got a chance to talk to some of the higher ups from Penn about this Arkansas meet (as they refused to consider call it by the NRC name).
From what I understand, part of Mississippi State's rationale to going to Penn over Arkansas was based on A&M and LSU not going to Arkansas. They figured they'd rather deal with the fun "chaos" of Penn rather than go to somewhere where, even though the Arkansas meet was focused on the collegians and they had the conference TV obligations. In the end, Mississippi State went home with 2 wheels and some fast times.
It also seems like Houston has such a strong bond with Penn that they won't be leaving it anytime soon.
Craig Masback and Sanya Richards-Ross reportedly "dissed" the Arkansas meet during the NBC SN live broadcasts. Jesse Squire shared their quotes in this meet recap
http://citiusmag.com/drake-relays-penn-relays-weekend-thoughts/The other was from NBCSN announcer Craig Masback during the Penn Relays broadcast:
I want to point out a negative thing here. Some college coaches have chosen not to bring their teams here. There’s something they’re calling the National Relay Championships in Arkansas this weekend. Why aren’t these guys here? Sydney McLaughlin, the great young freshman at Kentucky, she could have come here and done what Renaldo Nehemiah did many years ago, what Sanya Richard-Ross did during her college career, and establish a name for herself that would help transcend the sport as she goes through her career. And by not coming here these college coaches are depriving those athletes of running in front of this crowd.
Co-announcer Sanya Richards-Ross continued:
I really mean it when I say that these are some of my fondest memories, and I had the opportunity to run here at the University of Texas. When you come here you get to see the pros and you get a peek into the future. And so yeah, I’m disappointed with many of those college coaches who went there instead of coming here. This is an environment you cannot recreate, it’s just that special.
