There would be a panel of the IAAF, from different countries, who would make the decision. Not a bunch of Brits purposely dq an American in order to get a medal for a UK runner!
I’m watching it on the BBC, and according to them it wasn’t for the bump with Giles, but for pulling at Kczot’s vest from behind. Cram said he thought it was a harsh decision, and I agree. I wouldn’t have dq’d him for that as it didn’t affect the result. Giles wasn’t good enough and doesn’t deserve to get a medal.
Interestingly, Michael Johnson, an American, said he agreed with the decision!
It really is not necessary to make it into a ‘us and them’ situation. Over the years every nation has been on the receiving end of unfortunate and perhaps undeserving disqualifications in sport. The US are not the only person be it happens to.
But the number of dqs has been a joke.
