Will the world record go down?
It's good to see KB is racing something other than just marathons. I think he does better when he races often, instead of just showing up for a big marathon attempt 2-3 times a year.

Totally agree! I think he was so into getting the marathon WR last year (Dubai, London and Berlin) that he should have just planned the year better and done some other distance as well
Anyone have a stream for this?

He is capable of breaking that world record but I highly doubt he will do it right now. More likely he will win in a decently fast time and then say he has been dealing with a calf injury and is only "55% fit."

Wouldn't be surprising. As good as he is, the dude always seems to have some BS excuse. Hopefully he takes it down though.

Totally agree, in order for him to break the world record I believe he needs to set some short term goals in the build to the marathon.
Did someone just say that I can watch Kenenisa Bekele running at 8:10 PM EST on Saturday?
It will probably be too warm for Kenenisa to run at his top 25 km pace.
The Purdy tables have his 2:03:03 marathon as equivalent to 1:10:15 for 25 km ( = 4:31.94 per mile).
However, his 10000m PR of 26:17 is equivalent to a 1:09:45 for 25 km ( = 4:30 per mile)
and 1:24:44 for 30 km (= 4:33.333 per mile)
and 2:02:14 for the marathon ( = 4:39.72 per mile)
In conclusion:
1) Wow.
2) Really???
3) That is completely ridiculous.
Please stop it Mr. Kenenisa Bekele.
The current 25km is pretty good.
In an even paced 25km in 1:11:18 (WR), you hit the half marathon in 60:10. That's about KB's PR (yea yea he probably could have been 58:low at some point in his career, but he isn't now).
That 2:03 is now 15 months in the past on an athlete that has had injury problems for 7 years now. I do not think he gets the WR or even a PB.
Probably 1:13:20 if he finishes at all.

You must be really fun at a party.
You think Kenenisa is an old, pathetic runner who runs like complete sh*t now...just like you.
Father Time is undefeated. Ed Whitlock is the GOAT for fighting off the grim reaper as long as possible. Kenenisa needs to save a little for those difficult golden years.

What's the competition like? I think his performance in Berlin last year was aided by Wilson Kipsang's aggressive front-running.
Prediction -1:11:40

This one is working for me. Tim Hutchings on the broadcast. He's no Larry Rawson, but he'll do.

How will he run a negative time?

He's so fast he goes back in time. In fact Bekele has already finished.
