I thought his 3:30 was underselling his abilities, despite the low mileage. A lot of years doing 10+ mile runs- plus being sub-4:00.

Forgot- His splits are here. Just enter his name.
I ran a 2:49 on similar mileage and a long run of 18 (with a couple 17's).
I'm not surprised.
Good for him.
Does this mean Nick is going to start buying Boston jackets and post pics on Instagram of him rocking the Unicorn?

Probably POD. There hasn't been very good ones yet today.
How many sticks of run gum did he chew during the race? Is it considered a PED in high doses?
Nick is a well known sissy.

Nick Symmonds trainings from July to December with two weeks off in October and runs 3:00:05 at the Honolulu Marathon
Ryan Trahan resumes training for ten days and runs 2:59:16 at the BCS Marathon
Just curious, what does everyone here think of this?

I was gonna bring this up but I doubt many people here know Ryan. Basically, he's a mid-15 guy in HS and ran 18:30ish for the 8k in college. 4:15 miler. Anyways, he quit for 2-3 months, resumed training for 10 days, and ran 2:56 (2:59 officially but it was a long course) while talking to his college buddy on a bike the whole way, smiling and waving while it was live streamed.
he didnt completely quit. hes been running just not anywhere as much as before. Plus a 25min 8k guy who ran 70mpw in hs and is max 130lbs. will fare better than nicky baby in the marathon.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan broke 3 hours, or was it 4 hours?

Not illegal in normally consumned doses. And unlikely the epinephrine increase from the gum would amount to much.
Chottomatte
So.....he runs over 3 hrs and is in the top 10 of 30-34 age group? Man, I was born in the wrong era....

Get the man a 26.2 sticker
So low mileage, no long runs - sounds like another world-class DANCAN athlete.
Magic marathon!
All things considered, this is a good result for Nick. Btw, Honolulu performances usually slow.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
