Are they just a bunch of 21 year olds blogging about blue jean miles from their parents basement? Why do they exist? They can't be making any money with this garbage.

They aren't making money as they have no ads.
I too am curious as to what the end game is.
I imagine they are a) either hoping to build it to eventually put up ads or
b) think it's will look good on a resume if they show they built the site or
c) Enjoy doing it as hobby. We all have hobbies - some actually cost us money like golf.
Alot of US Marines and US First Responders gave up all of their tomorrows for Citius's constitutional right to publish extraordinary stories, videos, and content.
Well Chris Chavez, one of the sport's premier journalists, is the main brain behind it and I would assume he has a clear plan. The podcast does draw some sponsors. Much of the content is ridiculous, but they have some interesting stuff you'd expect/want to find on a running site--recent pieces on Shelby Houlihan and Craig Engels. They have less news but more opinion pieces than LetsRun.
I chatted with some of them at USAs. My impression is that it's a hobby, they all have other jobs

Chavez seems like a nice kid, but the fact that he can be called "one of the sport's premier journalists" says a lot about our professionalism. Most of the people writing about track -- plenty of names along with his -- can barely spell their own names.
Does anyone know how they make enough money to pay for all of their photographers/videographers? They run some ads here and there on Podcast but damn, their expenses must be so high. It's hard to understand how they profit.

I do know Nike cut them a big check at one point, was probably a few years ago, not sure if the Phil Knight bucks are still rolling in or not. I feel like they're trying to go after the same people as Tracksmith in a way, the well-to-do, vaguely left-leaning city dweller. That's what everyone in the running world is trying to cash in on these days.

Yeah, WTF! T & F fans posting, blogging and doing podcasts about T & F. Ugh. AND they're young! Crucify them!
This is a cool thread to see bumped. We actually just posted a podcast this week about the business model if you are interested. But we have boots on the ground in Europe right now thanks to On Track Nights, we'll be in Philadelphia for New Balance Nationals, and if you could drink some OLIPOP that'd be great!
Citius Mag is awesome. The balance between highschool, college, and pro coverage is perfect. Keep doing what you're doing everyone on my schools track team watches your stuff.
CITIUS - Where avid fans find interviews, first-hand accounts, original writing, and a fun loving perspective. Their YouTube live shows from Eugene were amazing with great guests and a refreshing lack of self-serious posturing.
LET'S RUN - Where embittered ex-racers, preening age group athletes, and trolling teens gather to gossip and speculate about track 50% of the time while spending the other 50% arguing about political and social issues. Some original writing and limited first-hand reporting happen but a large percentage of the coverage is aggregated content and live reactions to television coverage. Everything on LRC is either a travesty, a conspiracy, a threat, or a sure sign that the sport is dying and has been at death's door since the 1990s.

Maybe they're trust fund babies like you.
I went to their site once, saw nothing about the deep state or the truth about the scamdemic. Not even some good old fashion casual racism?!?!
Never went back, not my kind of running site

You guys are doing well, and leaving LR in the dust. Glad you don't mention this place on the podcast anymore. Best of luck! And I'm giggling as I write this.

I agree, the irony of this thread. When I see a good candid interview, I look down at the bottom of the screen and it is frequently them. I dont know who they are but they get some good interviews without the stupid content filler. I think i just watched an 8 min video yesterday with Gert, he said more in that 8 min that I have ever heard from him on threshold concept. Who is out there with a mic doing better stuff in track? They get way more interviews than anyone.

Post of the day, even though I resemble some of those categories. Well done!
