Selemon Barega arrived. Hails thinks he is the one. He even might take the gold in the 5k at London

big if true
He seems to be slightly slower than Edris and he has a kick. He's of course 17.
It's now down to how he is managed. The notable thing about Kenenisa and Haile is that they did a lot of training for their finishing speed as well as a lot of strength training and as a result drastically improved.
Barega is basically Kejelcha except with a kick. It will be exciting.

Watch his kick. It is a matter of time he will dust every body behind
https://youtu.be/mVW-5lkwh0IBut if he can't beat Mo Farah his kick is no better than Edris or Kijelcha
Why are you guys hyping up his kick?
Wasn't Edris, Gebremeskel, Alimerew, and Gebrehewit all at some point hyped up to be the next Haile or Bekele? What's so different about this kid? He still has a slower PR than all of the above and has done nothing to indicate he's the next hot shot.

Haha you think what made them run 12:30's is doing speed and strength training?! I bet EPO and a lack of testing at home helps too.

Nope, this kid is different. He already won a couple cross country. He has the strength and the speed. Watched and mentored by the great Haile
donot forget he run 12:55 two weeks ago at the age of only 17. This guy might be the future, if he works more on his endurance.n His speed is well good right now

^ This
I still think it is going to be Yomif...He is getting better and better.
This was a great kick. It looks like a 55 last lap in a 13:51, nothing special, but the kick didn't start until maybe 250 to go and he ran very close to 25 flat for the last 200m if I have the line right. Now, to be as good as Haile or Bekele, he'd have to be able to run close to that finish in a sub 13 race, show the range, get under 12:40, etc.
Age cheat on some serious dope.
I just say it. There is a big bunch of young talented African runners out there. Maybe next year a new great young runner appear. The problem for many of them is that they are poor. They lack money for shoes, food and transport to the races. Still there is nobody who will beat Mo over 5000m. Barega have to wait a couple of years.

Nope he don't. 5 k will be 1,2,3 for Ethiopian in London

What? He ran 12:55 and didn't win the race, and after running the U18 champs you think he's gonna win worlds? I'd say top 5 at best. No way he beats Mo, Chelimo, Edris or Kejelcha. He has minimal experience at the top level, and a fast time means nothing in a World/Olympic final (like Chelimo last year).
He looks half Kenyan. Also, likely on the sauce. I'll believe he's the next Kenny B when he wins some world titles and shows the potential to "totally annihilate the distance WRs."

Actually he did win the race.

He will be at least a 12 40 and 2620 runner with in two years
12:55 at 17. Astounding level of doping.
He disappears next year for sure

You shouldn't have any trouble finding people to take your money with those bets.
