Dude's a beast! great time for this early in the season.

Considering he won the NCAA 1500m and not the 800m, I want to see what his potential is at 1500m/mile now that he's developed as an 800m runner and if he can still transition up.
That being said, this is a stellar performance, especially for April! Can't wait for Brazier vs. Murphy.

Can't bring up Murphy on the boards without a subtle dig at Brazier. Clayton is 4 years older than Brazier and has the benefit of 4 more years of racing, 4 more years of training, 4 more years of learning the mental game of the sport.
Hobby joggers/mileage nerds feeling that sweet validation whenever they can denigrate the DB in any way at all.
In any case, great run from Murphy, who is certainly one of our brightest young stars at the moment. Can't wait to see what he does this season.
Damn Murphy!
How is that denigrating to Brazier? I personally think Brazier is more naturally talented. Super excited about both of them.

That's nice except for the fact that there is only a 2 year difference between them, not 4. Of course I realize doing a 10 second fact check via Google is a lot to ask of most people on these boards.
Wow, over a second faster than Brazier's world lead (1:44.63). From my reading of the lists this is the fastest non-altitude time EVER in April (and not just by an American as Flotrack mentioned)
Incredible time, especially for April. I'm curious as to whether anyone knows where he trains/who coaches him. Same as in college? Whoever it is, it seems to be working.
Results
1. Clayton Murphy Nike 1:43.60
2. Eliud Rutto Middle Tennesee St. 1:45.70
3. Erik Sowinski Nike 1:45.95
4. Sho Kawamoto Suzuki AC 1:46.25
5. Edward Kemboi HP West 1:47.29
6. Sampson Laari Middle Tennessee St. 1:47.52
7. Abe Alvarado Unattached 1:52.38
Murphy looked very smooth when he eased into the lead on the backstretch of the bell lap passing Erik Sowinski. He was clear of the field heading into the homestretch and was definitely digging toward the end for a fast time, which he got. He's now #3 all-time in world history in the month of April.
1:43.37 Nicholas Kipkoech 2016
1:43.48 Jonathan Kitilit 2016
1:43.60 Clayton Murphy 2017
I wonder what Brazier thinks about this. All eyes on your response buddy.
Approximate splits of 51.3/52.3 adding to how impressive this run was. American record and a medal in London this summer.

I think I saw he was staying at akron at least until he finished his coursework (and maybe longer), so it would be the same program. Looked really smooth too, official splits of 51.4/52.2 and he was only a step or two ahead of sowinski at 600m.

Clayton is 2 years old than Brazier. Brazier was capable of 1:46, possibly 1:45 in HS. Murphy has improved much more than Brazier. Doesn't mean Brazier won't eventually run faster, but the fact is that Murphy has accomplished more and run faster despite the way cucks like you carry Brazier's jock and bury your faces in his crotch.
Needs a sexier title: WOW!!!! 1:43.60 MURPHY SENDS MESSAGE TO BRAZIER!!!!SILENCES THE HATERS!!!!
Brazier definitely capable of 1:46 at least in HS:

Great run for all time, many years ahead of him.
How did the two that have run faster than Murphy in April do in the Olympics? Real question. Of course Murphy should run faster this season but August is a long way from mid April. Just sayin
It's April.

He's white so they're already working on it. They hate Clayton because he's not a coward like most LR posters or in fact like most under 40 American white males. He has talent and is fearless on the track. The LR posters are chickensh** sissies afraid to assert themselves anywhere but on a message board.
i know this is crazy, but if we look at his progression we see: 150.0 - 145.6 - 142.9. thats improving 4.4 and then 2.7 seconds from one year to the next. if we fit this to an exponential decay we'd see him drop about 1.2-1.3 seconds this year and then 0.6 seconds next year. that would put him at 1:41.6-7 this year and 1:41.0-1 next year.
