This. AW not a distance runner. OP an idiot.

No true, she has good speed for an 800m runner, but she's definitely not a sprinter. In H.S., she split a high 53 a couple of times, but she was more of an 800/mile type.
Blargh.
I don't think the midpoint for a 400 specialist and a 800 specialist is 600. I think the 800 runner is favored in the 600.

And I did the 100m in middle school. Not that relevant anymore
400 is not sprinting.
Sprinting only starts at 300m and under.

This says nothing. Of course the 800m runner is going to be better at the 600m than a 400m runner. You cant just take the net distance, cut it in half and call it even. Race a 2250m race between 1500m runners and 3k runners, the 3k runners would win every time. Race a 7500m race between 5k runners and 10k runners, the 10k runners win every time.
The equivalency point between Okolo and Wilson is probably more like 525m. Homestly, I'm rather suprised by Okolo's strength as a 400m runner. Not very many women's 400m runners could put together a 1:24 600m. I think Okolo should try an 800m. She could possibly break 2, but that's only possibly. Who knows what the extra 200m would do?
1:24.0 = 1:58.0 and 50.8. I think Okolo could be running sub-2:00 with9n a few months of 800 traning, and has potential for 1:56. Unfortunately there are at least three African dudes who can do that with minimal training.

That depends on your definition of sprinting.
If by "sprinting," you mean running at 100% effort right from the start and staying at 100% effort, then sprinting is only the 100m or maybe the 100m and 200m, depending on the individual athlete.
If by sprinting you are referring to the vast majority of the energy coming from the anaerobic energy system, the 400m and down definitely are sprints.

El Guerrouj at his best would take down Komen at his best in a 2250m race.
The 1500m and 3000m are much more similar in their physiological demands than 400m and 800m, and there's neglibible difference between what makes a top 5000m runner and a top 10000m runner. If you believed this in 2015, you would have thought that Almaz Ayana, the 5000m specialist, wouldn't have stood a chance against the best 10000m specialists.
Okolo was going up to a longer distance from what she trains for, Wilson was going down which is easier. If they raced in a 300 or 400 Okolo would most likely beat Wilson because Wilson trains for longer distances.
Not a fair comparison to say distance runners are better than sprinters just based on this one race.
Also Wilson hardly "took it to her" she only won by 0.2 seconds.
