They could use some walking.
They could use some walking.
This is true. However not everyone has the same "get up and go" People develop bad eating habits as they get older which results in weight gain if not enough exercise is applied.
Do you really need to fat shame someone?
A lor of them probably have additional health problems like hypertension or chronic heart failure that could be life threatening if they don't use the motorized carts
I was in a grocery store and there was an enormous woman on a motorized shopping cart parked at the meat department right where I needed to go. She was just sitting there blocking everything and texting on her phone. It was very annoying. Rather than cause a scene I did the rest of my shopping and came back.
Once saw a fat, elderly lady in one of those crossing at the stoplight in front of me... while puffing on a cigarette. Perhaps she just wanted to get it over with.
Most of them got diabetes, so they got them swollen red ankles and it hurts them to walk even though walking would be the best thing for them. At some walmarts, so many get used you gotta call ahead and reserve one around the 5th of each month when the gummint replenishes the food cards. Soda sales are big with them.

Diet soda sales.
99% of them do not need motorized carts, their arms work fine.
Most of those who use a motorized cart while in the store, don't use a wheel chair and just walk while they are not in the store.
Bumper cars.
The chicken? Or the egg?
On a similar note, I see a lot of (often less-obese but still tubby) people circle the parking lot for ten minutes or more in search of a parking place nearer to the store instead of just walking a short distance to it.

Developing bad habits is a piss poor excuse. You should have gone with gland problems. Even if we know its salivary glands.
I never understood how a fat guy can be stuck in his bed and unable to leave the house. Who is shopping for him and feeding him for goodness sakes?
I've seen skinny men in their 20s use them in Vegas
They're afraid of looking too scrawny and anorexic from all that walking. Also, the cardio will burn off all of their muscle as well.
Obama
I used one for a couple of months. I was not obese.
I had broken my femur. That would not have been apparent looking at me.
eh. I'm fat. I exercise daily. I can walk and run just fine but I have back problems that are aggravated by pushing a cart. Like, to the point where I can lose the ability to walk for a day or two if I overdo that specific type of activity. (Not to mention dealing with a level of pain I'd rather not bother trying to describe just now.)
Result is that I sometimes need a motorized cart even though I'd rather walk, because the alternative is inconveniencing myself and others a whole lot more. I certainly get a lot less exercise if wear out my back so much shopping that i can't go jogging the next morning.
tl;dr: It is actually REALLY hard to tell by looking at someone whether they need a motorized cart or not.

What hunk of meat were you really going for?
On a serious note:
If you're that insecure that you can't say "excuse me ma'am, but may i (as you point to what you want) ? Thank you" then please make an appt with the nearest shrink.

Why don't skinny people and skinny millennial sub elite strava triathlete runner bois carry obese people around on hand rickshaws? They could use some extra muscle not to mention cash to help pay the rent on the parents basement.
