Why would a high school runner who got caught jumping into a race at the end of the Manhattan Invitational think that it would be a good idea to do it again at the NXN Northeast meet yesterday?
Not sure what benefits this kid thought he would get.

insane.
I just wanna know what his coach thinks of this.
Here's his youtube channel if you wanna watch super cringey motivational videos.
this kid is whacko and needs to be dealt with. Team/school should be banned from events at least he should not be allowed on the team.
Heard that he is complaining that his "life is being ruined" by this and the manhattan article when he did the same thing.
was he actually caught...
2 things make me think he didn't cheat
1) Times from last yr, a jump from 17:30s to 16:30s at the same race wouldnt be too surprising, it'd be believable
2) Track times, 4:30 mile is pretty quick for a 16:30 guy, lots of guys run 4:40 the season before they go 16:30s..
Then he could be a decent mid/short distance guy (54 400, 2:05 800, 4:30 1600) and have cheated to be good at xc since he has never broken 17 before.
Looks like milesplit is trying to take letsruns job
That's what I thought when I saw a 4:30 mile. His season best for 2016 has been 19 tho.
"For the second time this season, it appears that a high school runner from New Jersey has cheated his way to a strong finish in one of the top cross-country races in the country."
Well, that explains it.
ok but 19 isnt a strong finish and itd be tough to cheat a 4:30 mile, you'd probably toward the front at a normal hs meet, not like you can just wait and do a 2:15 800...
I guarantee he has a diagnosed/diagnosable mental disorder.
I almost feel bad for him. Where are his parents? He did this twice? Something is very wrong with this kid and I can't believe I am saying this, but I feel like he needs help not scorn if these allegations are true.
Mike is so proud!
this is so funny
He should have been kicked off his team after the first one. The coach has fault here as well.

I raced at the northeast regional yesterday. It is impossible to miss the midrace timing mat.

Yeah. Ethics aside, you're letting someone stay on your team who is likely to commit fouls that will impact your whole team. How would you like to have a great day as a team, win some race that you thought you didn't have a shot to win, and then end up getting DQed due to this moron's antics?
Way to go Milesplit. Put info about a high school kid on blast on a national website. I'd be inclined to file a suit for defamation if I was him.
Funny thing meet officials were warned that they kid was entered before the races. They should have rejected his entry refuse to give him his number.

Truth is an absolute defense baby.
Kelly's Heroes sucked because of you.
Odd that he is allowed to stay on team after photos from 1st incident

I'm betting the kid is over 18...maybe even way over 18 and got left back a time or two, considering the circumstances under which he's become newsworthy.
So without that, there's not much of a case. Freedom of the press, and all.
