A couple of weeks ago I started having pain in the ball of my foot. I began receiving ultrasounds and padding the area. Since then I've had an xray and mri which showed that I have a sesmoid fracture. I have now been told the bone has died and fragmented and surgery will be needed to remove the bone. Because I am in my last semester of college, the surgery can be postponed until after graduation. Even with the padding, it is still sore and painful when pushing off. This is a problem because I am a middle distance runner with high arches. So, I am looking for any advice about dealing with this so I can make my last season a good one. Also, what should I expect with surgery? Anybody ever have this done? Thanks!
