what kind of degrees do they offer at Manzano University and what part of Texas is it in?
Manzano is officially NASTY, as if there were any doubt before. I mean, WOW... the guy is just sick. I thought he would do well in college because he was just so much faster in the mile/800 than XC, I figured as soon as he got some serious college base training going that he'd rock the house... wow, sub-4 indoors as a frosh shows amazing potential. Good for him.
I remembered hearing about manzano when he was a junior in HS. I was told he was an incredibly talented runner, perhaps the most talented in the country at the time, but did not try as hard as he could have. Now that hes in college he's probably taking it more seriously, and its paying off- congrats to him.
some of what you wrote is true, Leo would try, its just that proper elite coaching is not what he got, and it might be for the better. It seems like his coach knew what an amazing talent he had, and just let it grow on its own. I dont know this for sure but I heard from a good source he ran between 15 and 30 miles per week in HS.
I heard he never even trained in HS.
At AOC last year we ate with him, 3 hours before his race he had a cheese burger and french fries. ran like 1:50
Manzano is the Man and it is true he barely ever trained in High School he would play pick-up soccer games to stay in shape. Can go in Cross also but found his mile 800 talent his senior year.
Saw him at the Texas Relays a couple of years ago. Good turnover (sorry, Larry Rawson), quick feet, good acceleration and basic speed. He's looked like a keeper ever since his soph year.
Found his mile/800 talent his senior year? He ran 4:06 at the Texas Relays as a junior. I think he found his talent before that. I do think he ran more than most people think during high school although maybe not as much as Stanley, MacPherson, and some of the other top runners.
GOOD JOB MANZANO!!! having raced leo all through out highschool and graduating in the same year as him you could tell he was gonna do some damage, it was only a matter of time, awesome job.
way to go Manzano
Represent!!!!!
Go Longhorns!
I went to Marble falls with Leo, did cross country with him. We might have covered 20 miles a week at the most. He was just a freak.
how about joe thorne knocking the dust off his spikes and running a decent 3k, i wonder if that guy will start running to his potential
I just got that Manzano University comment...
20 miles a week? For 6 days that is a 3.333333333 daily avg. , for 7 it's 2.8571428 daily avg. Do we look like fools here!!!!!!! The guy ran a great race days ago, it's over let's move on. One fast race is just that one fast race, to prove his abilities he's going to have to do it on a regular basis now.
what was manzano's last 400, does anyone know
Dude, who gives a ****!! He ran a great race last Saturday, move on. Start talking about what his last lap time will be at Nationals.
