I think Noah is ready but not Josephus.
There was a Nike pop up ad over the Hoka One One sponsored Flodreck article about adidis signing the Lyles.
Today Noah Lyles ran a monster anchor in the heats of the 4x100 at U20 Champs to overcome a big deficit and secure a time q for USA.
With all these young kids dropping out of college/not going were just going to end up having a bunch of uneducated burnt out pro runners.

Unless these kids have a guaranteed 4 year good school level college education, room board, tuition, books, dedicated good tutor, part time job for more than condom money and wheels set up going pro fall back in the contract they are playing long odds.
Honest truth when the 2020 trials come around I'd rather be an unemployed college grad than an unemployed prorunner.
Of course , with the current Presidential choices a big lose/bigger lose situation who knows if there will be a here left here to worry about.
Who says they can't go to school and be pro at the same time?
If you read the article you'd be able to see that the contract states adidas will pay for four years at whatever college they choose
I'm confused. Why is Josephus pro? While very good in the HS ranks, he's not at the pro level ... or at least not at the 8-year deal level. Didn't even compete at the Trials. Are they just assuming since he's younger he'll get a lot better? Was it a package deal?
Never mind. Just read somewhere the "slower" Lyles was injured at some point, so I assume that played a role. Still his 100/200 bests are a long ways from Noahs, but if he's younger and was injured maybe they figure he could have ran a lot faster.

He's a 400m runner. Open 400 is around 45.46?? I think

He's also the "younger" brother. He just turned 18 today; Noah is 19. Also, Noah said he going pro was a package deal with Josephus. I'm sure that kept him from getting the best deal. Nice move, however.

he could indeed do both, but would have to pay his own way through college. that's the difference ...

Adidas is paying for their college education. Are you really bad at reading?

we are on the letsrun board where virtually everyone is functionally illiterate;
did you have to ask?

My guess is part speculation, part marketing. "The Lyles Brothers" could open up some pretty cool ad opportunities.

Adidas will be paying their education while giving them a paycheck, having a chaperone taking them to meets until 21, and signed a 8 year contract.
Avett Brothers are better.
