#3 all time behind Michael Johnson's World best (30.85) and Usain Bolt's 30.97
The rio 400 is about to get good!
Merritt back .2 with a 31.23. McQuay in third.
1 Van Niekerk, Wayde South Africa 31.03
2 Merritt, Lashawn Unted States OF 31.23
3 McQuay, Tony Unted States OF 31.64
4 Roberts, Gil Unted States OF 31.81
5 Makwala, Isaac Botswana 31.91
6 Bell, Javere Jamaica 32.35
7 Chambers, Ricardo Jamaica 32.68
8 Clemons, Kyle Unted States OF 32.73
19.88 Miguel Francis in the 200m
Merritt's performance is #4 all time.
Here's the list for anyone interested:
Good grief ... Makwala was even with Merritt with maybe 80m to go, but was absolutely going backwards the last 50, all the way down to 5th.
You'd think the 300 could be his event, given his usual style of running the 400, haha. I guess his style is fading at the end no matter the distance. Disappointing after his recent 44.85 and 44.97 (he usually isn't under 45 until much later in the year).
All that said, I have no idea if 31.91 is a decent 300 time or not. As a rarely run distance the times have little reference point for me.

It's not a bad time at least. It's .2 off of Wariner's best (31.73) and ahead of Xavier Carter by .02.
Oliver wins the hurdles with 13.09
Rough race for Warren Weir in the 200. He hasn't really been up too for a couple of years now it seems
Hi, TAA!
it appears lashawn is in such heavy training that he looks 220 / 225
he does realise he has to be 210 / 215 by rio ...?!
Hi HardLoper!
Who is the best 300/600 combo sprinter
300/400/600?
Van Niekerk really is the new star of athletics, such class. Think of his range in the sprints. Second best combination from 100m-400m ever? Behind Johnson.

cazzy loxsom?
vent, thought your boy merrit was going to be in 42-43 shape already???
like i said and you tried to argue van is the man and is the only one capable of the 400wr, and like i said he will win 43.2ish or the WR in rio just wait.
he has sub 10 100m speed, sub 20 200m speed now the 3rd fastest 300m of all time, behind the 400 wr holder and bolt. and as you saw last summer he ran how fast in that 400 final??? and beat merrit.....and you think merrit will get the WR? haha
well MJ never broke 10 in the 100m, only managed a 10.09
van has himself a 9.98, just wait to see what he does in the 400 at rio
i agree with spencer wrote:
