Apple promotes their watch as a great tool for tracking fitness and workouts but the watch isn't GPS enabled. They recommend that you wear it while carrying your iPhone and using something like Runkeeper. After about 20 runs, the watch is supposed to have learned enough about your rhythm and cadence to estimate your running accurately, at which point you can run without your phone and use the watch as a sort of hi-tech pedometer. It will "track" your distance, pace, but not map your route.
Has anybody tried this? Is it anywhere close to accurate? I'm looking for logging workouts or runs up to maybe 30 miles a week for 5k training.
