didnt get to see the race but did this man actually drop a 51 here?

Yeah he did. It was insane.
it was so amazing all Larry Rawson could say was, "Ed came over to the United States with no money in his pocket with zero running experience"
Wasn't there either and didn't watch streaming either, so don't know. But I would say it must be an error, because I doubt he ran a 1:38 for his second lap either.
Only way this would make sense would be if he fell during lap two for about 20 seconds, then ran really hard to catch up. But I'd think anybody in ncaas would know enough to get up faster than that, and then to catch back up at a more reasonable rate. So it has to be a timing or transcription error.
Also interesting from this race is that at 6400 Greene was leading and ended up 40 seconds behind the winners.
Didn't see the race, but my guess is some kind of shoe problem. I doubt there would be a data error so specific to one runner and for just two laps.
He may be a Devil but there is no way in Hell he ran :51 for the 3rd lap of the race. Watched the race over again. He goes through 800m near the rear of the pack but only a few seconds off the lead. He went through in around 2:29. 51 seconds later, at 3:20, he hasn't even come off the Bowerman turn. He comes through 1200 in the lead around 3:40, for a 71 second lap. Difficult to see the exact moment he crosses the split/finish line as Uncle Larry is spouting off about Jacob Thomson (of 28 lap SEC 10,000 fame) at that moment.
I was at the East Regional and noticed the 10K runners had some sort of foil tab on the front of their numbers. Probably some issue with that and possibly a human having to fill in some digits for a split that didn't transfer automatically.
AFAIK, those splits are done manually by the Lynx operator. When you have large fields it's possible to glitch on one and never go back and correct it.
There's no way Shaun Thompson could run a single 400 in 51, let alone in the middle of a 10k race.

They did a 28 lap 10k?
Caught a ride on a golf cart, maybe? Inspired by Mike Rossi.

I watched the whole thing on TV and I did not get to see the race either.
Yes. Don't you read these posts. He's already a LRC legend. At the SEC champs the lights went out or something like that after 3 laps so they stopped the race then started over again from zero when full power was restored.
3 + 25 = 28

Not possible.
Yeah I can't run a 51 unless I'm going downhill. And flashresults messed up all my splits but they have since fixed it
This guy is a imposter. I trained through this meet, and used it as a workout. I am capable of running a 51.X fully rested and I can easily do it after two laps of a 10k with the flying start helping me. It was supposed to be a wild tactical move and also an indicator of my speed as I consider a move to the 1500.

I had him at 50.8
I was at the meet. What's shocking is it looks like he did it in trainers too.
Furthermore he looked relaxed. So relaxed that just watching it made me drowsy.
I was feeding lead changes to the commentators via headset and projecting pace for the race. No one ran a 51 at ANY point in the race.
Thanks, man. That wasn't clear at all already. Good stuff.
