The race was in Montreuil, France.
Although the wind was +1.9. I'm not sure if he's a real contender, but surely he sent a message to Bolt and Gatlin.

Thanks for posting. We had a typo on the front page saying it was a 9.96.
There were another interesting results in this meeting.
What kind of track is it Montreuil? many athletes seem to have their SB's or PB's in Montreuil.
For example, British James Ellington ran 10.11 (PB)
In the 800m, Pierre Ambroise Bosse (finished 3rd with 1:44) split for the first 400m was 48.9...very fast.
He could be a contender for 3rd in Rio. The 100m can be a bit of a toss up for 3rd. There are always guys who fail to match their season's best, or run a seasons best in the rounds, but then somehow fall off in the finals.
Vicaut is looking to be set up to be one of 4 or 5 guys who could be going for that bronze, it's just a matter of who peaks at the right time and performs under pressure.
The big question in Jimmy's performance, is his performance on the majors.
He seems to be a good competitor until the semifinals.
In the finals, including his junior years, he never ran according his credentials.
This year, there's many athletes with good potential for that bronze medal:
Vicaut
Ogunode (although I don't see him performing well in 100m rounds)
Rodgers
Collins
Blake
Powell
De Grasse
Bromell
Webb
Meité
Ujah
Martina

Not that I don't think Vicaut isn't capable of 9.86 because I don't that is even his PR, but it's very fast for early June and in a non-big money meet. It is strange that the entire race ran SB and PBs. Also, the hurdles were run from the same direction and had a 3+ wind.
Interesting the article quotes Vicaut as saying “Honestly, I did not run 9.86,†said Vicaut. “I felt the wind helped me; I cheated a little. But when I stopped, I thought it must have been a 10.00 run.â€
He was there I guess he should know. He should make the finals if he doesn't get injured before the meet or during the rounds. He seems to be injury prone.
