Mead is a 10k guy and he just beat America's top 1500 guys minus Centro.
What the hell has happened o them?
3:37 for Mead.
Wheating 3rd
Manzano DFL

Leslie, Torrence and Jaeger won't be running 1500 at the Trials. Most of the Trials contenders were there tonlte. Mead is a 7:38 3K guy and a 13:02 5K guy (!!!) and now a 3:37 guy. A 3:37 is a 3:54 mile. So a guy beats a lot of our best milers with a 3:54 equivalent. I don't see what is so surprising about that. Mead is a WORLD CLASS stud.
So he's a 10K guy. Rupp is too and Rupp has run 3:50 for a mile. If you can run sub 27 for 10K like Rupp or 13:02 like Mead for 5K you better damn well be able to run with the country's best milers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Manzano has been erratic for a long time, he will run poor times, look like he is done then run a great time, then run poorly, then run great, yet he is very high on the All Time American 1500 list at #6with his 3:30.98 trailing only Lagat, Maree, Centro, Webb and Wheating (even if you add mile equivalents Scott with his 3:47.69 would also be ahead of Manzono, so Manzano would be #7 on a USA All Time 1500 list) Never count Manzano out, he is capable beating any American on his best days.
It's that Tinnan type training. Intervals at 10k pace with some tempos, strides and hills mixed in.

Mead looked like he could have gone 3:34 last night. He had a ton left, he himself said he was hanging back because he wasn't sure how his legs would respond or something like that. When he went it was like he had been out for a jog. Good sign he might be in 5k pr shape
He may claim to be a 10,000m runner, but 13:01 is his better PR. It's no uncommon for milers to get slapped around by a 5000m or 800m guy here or there.
Go Golfers! We love you, Mead!
Everybody saying Hassan is a 10k guy that beat the "milers"...never heard of something so stupid. Like if you're a World Class runner at 10K you should only be able to beat other 10K guys. HAHAHAHA
All American milers should quit right now. The world's best 10K guy has run 3:28...twice!

Ahem, and LOST in 3:28 TWICE.
Which is why he runs (and WINS) the 5/10K.
