Are those guys update? They're professional runners. They should update track fans about their progress. Just sayin. Anyone know how either are progressing?

Bumbalough had some sort of surgery last year, I think that it was a sports hernia. That set him back a fair bit.
Heath had a sports hernia I think too. Still has barely raced since turning pro. I think he ran the 2013 US 5k but didn't do well.
Why is sports hernia so common with runners

the quicker you figure out that no one on this earth owes you anything, the better off you will be.

That's great and all, but the quicker those guys figure out that keeping their fan base apprised of their condition is the only thing that will pay the bills when you aren't competing, the better off they will be.
I understand no one owes me anything but as a fan of professional track, a sport that needs more fans, I'm interested in what's going on with the runners in one of the best distance groups in the country (Bowerman Track Club).
I appreciate runners like Torrence, Symmonds, Willis, or Ritz that blog or find other ways to keep fans updated on their status/plans.
So is Bumbi still out? Huge bummer for him that he, I assume, won't even be able to lace them up for USAs in an Olympic year. Chances are fleeting in this sport. I'm sure a few years ago when he was a new pro consistently running fourth at USAs behind an aging Lagat and Solinsky that he never foresaw those being his closest years. I hope his career isn't done and that he comes roaring back. Huge talent from day 1.

There's a college 800m sensation (name?), who earlier this year said he wouldn't race the trials. Your post is exactly why I argued it foolish. All the races that he'll run- bow out of some low-level meets instead.
Yes. The carpe diem thing is always a good idea.
