Don't you love an Olympic year. Nowhere to hide.
Oh, it's on.

Yes, they'll run an amazingly fast time, which makes no sense for May, and not run any faster until Monaco. Happens every year.
Either those tracks are faster than the others or drug testing is somehow controlled at those meets where all the money is.
Will be interesting to see if anything changes this year in light of recent criticism of IAAF corruption and cover up!
Glad that outdoors is finally here...

Probably not. America's best miler is a slow, weak, stupid piece of stool.

And/or Centro feels that flying halfway around the world to run in a PR-type time trial in May is not in his best interest when he has to be at his peak in August and very close to it for the Trials in July. Just something to consider...

The midget guido is devoting his time to douchebaggery and getting the dosages dialed in.
Great - keep me updated!
European and African-based athletes may or may not travel a long distance to get to Doha, but they certainly do not have to travel through a lot of time zones, whereas the U.S. athletes have to go both far and through a lot of time zones.
It will be hard to rabbit 1200 in 2:48.
Anyone that fit might as well go for the win while they're at it.
In any case, I think that they might let the rabbit go away and run a semi tactical race in the 3:31-34 range.
Doesn't make it any less exciting in my opinion.

How does 1 race interfere with how he will run months later???

Taper, travel, recovery all combine to interrupt the training cycle. No need for it. Most of that field will be there just for the money (appearance fees as well as possible prize money) and they don't have to travel very far.
Exactly. What boggles my mind is the way these guys have gotten after it in this race in years past. On the one hand, it's a great fitness test--an opportunity to see where you are at in training. On the other hand, why bother running so fast so early in the season, when the big dance isn't for another few months?

Perhaps the athletes' agents know that there will be no testing there? We know that Doha got the World Champs with a few bungs as they are loaded. They probably pay ridiculous amounts of money for fast times, and ensure no doping controls or testing will take place to increase the chances of a fast time.
Every year it throws up v fast times in the 1500, 3k, 5k, ...... The same athletes fall well below these times, despite equally good pacing, in the weeks and months that follow.
Or perhaps the track is illegally fast. Something is definitely not right about that meet.

No, how does a few days affect how he will run months later? There is no recovery after a 1500. You'll be fine a day or two later just as you would after a hard workout which is what you're suggesting he would doing anyway instead.

It is not that difficult to rabbit 1200 in 2:48, especially when they often have two rabbits, so the 2:48 guy may only be leading a lap or so. There are probably at least 40 men in the world currently who could rabbit a 2:48 1200m, but very few of them could contend for a win at a meet like Doha.

And/or Centro is of no interest to the promoters of top 1500 races. Winning 10th, 11th and 8th places last year will result in being ignored.

Well then, the soft Americans can't go to Rio. Centro might survive a 4 hour time zone shift, but Rio in the winter? Worse, Centro has thongs galore to ogle at the beach and get all excited about. He'd better grab as many rubbers as he can if he can make it to Rio.
