Hey guys, I want to have a good 2nd track season and im willing to put in the effort. I consider myself mainly an 800m runner. My pr last outdoor season was 2:15. I really want to drop this time because I know its not that good. Ive been training 5-6 days a week since xc and ive been doing mostly endurance work. I think my main weakness is speed. My 400m pr is 59 seconds. I really want to drop my 800m time by 10 seconds so i can be competitive in the larger meets. If I had 54-55 second 400m speed i think it would help me alot in the 800. My endurance has definetly improved from last outdoor I was at 5:29 last may and last week I time trialed 5:03. Our distance squad does mostly training geared twords milers and two milers and not that much speed. I'm thinking about training with the 200/400 sprinters this season instead of distance to try and get more speed. If I did this I would do easy runs in the morning before school. Is this a good idea or not?
Btw I havent talked to the coach yet about this because I dont have contact with him until 2 weeks from now when outdoor starts.
Thanks
