For all of you fools living up in the rust belt or up east, it will be 72 degrees where i'm at. Don't freeze your nuts off. HaHaHaHaHa.

It's -17C with a windchill of -28C here today. I'm waiting for dark to get out for 8 or 10 miles.
I love this weather. Makes me way tougher than Sun Man. That which does not kill me...

And salutations to you sir from Michigan where it was 11F and windy this morn on the run. Wish you were here!
I am of the firm belief that running in SHITTY conditions (too cold or too hot) makes you very tough for the marathon.
YOU go try to do a 20miler in Bangkok in the middle of the day in APRIL. Now THAT will make a man out of a boy!!!

A Strong Cold Front Will Push South Across The Florida Peninsula Thursday Morning Ushering In Record Breaking Cold Temperatures. Strong Northwest Winds Of 20 To 25 Mph Will Make Temperatures Feel Even Colder. Most Of West Central And Southwest Florida Will Experience Freezing Temperatures Thursday Night.
How often do you hear the words "Arctic Blast" and "Florida" in the same sentence? I moved to the wrong state at the wrong time...
Hey, pal, we're just sharing the cold love!
I guess then that you haven't yet done that huh Jason.
I split the difference and got in nine. It was damn cold and windy, with blowing snow biting into my eyes. I like to run in these conditions when it's also dark, because the disorientation adds to the overall effect, while at the same time drawing my concentration away from my frozen digits.
Well, today in central Ohio it is 1 degree and -20 with the wind chill. It will get up to 13 degrees today. Fortunately for me, I have a scheduled day off of running today, but I will be back at it tomorrow no matter what.
Willy,
You schedule days off? In the middle of winter? You a wimp or something? ;-)
My days off happen because of life getting in the way, and are rarely, if ever, scheduled. I work pretty hard to avoid days off, but they inevitably happen every 6 to 10 days, so I don't need to plan them in. My training "schedule" is pretty happy-go-lucky.
It's so nice to be where it's warm and many of you are where it's cold. I'm not bashing you. Just telling you to move and be like me..
I suppose there's no uphills, and the wind is always at your back where you live, too. I don't know if I could live with myself, having to "run" in those conditions. I'd have to check my underwear every second day to see if the boys were still hanging there. I was almost ashamed to run today. It was only -9C with a light wind. I compensated by only wearing one pair of tights and one set of underwear, so my body knew it was cold and I still felt at least half alive. Mind you, the warmer weather made the snow on the sidewalk softer, so it was like running in loose powdery sand, except with less traction. I ran along the road every now and then to get close to the oncoming traffic that couldn't see me - anything to keep the adrenaline pumping.
You gotta get away from wherever you live and move somewhere that you can develop some mental and physical toughness.
:-)
Hey when you run in - 9 its very important to check your underwear every day to make sure the boys haven't either dropped off or ascended up into your GI cavity never to come back down.
I ran once in below zero conditions with a nasty wind chill and I had to take my beanie off and stuff it down the front of my tights to make sure my johnson didn't freeze.
You can keep that crap, give me 70 every day please.
Pretty warm today: -1C, only -5C with the windchill. A bit slushy, but managed a good 10 miles in daylight.
A bit cooler yesterday, but still not worthy of calling it cold (-12C with a moderate wind). Slower 14 at dusk.
This milder weather is doing damage to my self-esteem. Bring back the bitter cold.
Tell that to the scores of Kenyans ahead of you son

I had to drag this thread back - I missed it.
This past weekend I ran in probably the ugliest conditions of my running career, and loved (nearly) every minute of it. Saturday, there was exactly 1.5 inches of soft slush covering every square foot of sidewalk and pavement. The slush was underlain by a discontinuous layer of ice. You got a good SPLOOSH with every stride, and slipped on about one of every four strides (but you never knew which one it would be). Every car that went by splashed a big spray of cold, wet, dirty slush.
Sunday it warmed up a bit, and we got pelted with freezing rain. I did a 9 mile loop with a buddy. Westbound (starting out) the wind was in our back, so we only had to contend with the poor footing (the slush was still there) and the slip-sliding traffic. Turning around on the upper part of the loop, we headed right into a biting nor'easterly wind carrying freezing rain, hail, snow, you name it. It wasn't so bad on the face (I had a scarf that I pulled up), but the 'nads weren't appreciative. And my knees took a deep chill that lasted the rest of the day. We had a couple of opportunities to cut the loop short. At the first one, my buddy asked me if I wanted to head in. I laughed at him (I didn't want to be the girly man), said something lame about "mental toughness" and kept going. At the second chance, I DID want to head in, and made the suggestion back at him. He glared at me and growled something unintelligible, so we kept on truckin'...
Canada truly is the best country in the world!
