Did Rutherford deserve it or is this another sign of racism and anti-Islam?

Nah, Rutherford is a cult hero among athletics fans in the UK.
He wouldn't win a vote with the general public against Farah I bet.
Ok off the top of my head, Rutherford set a national record in the lj this year, but farah didn't set any this year, right?
So if the vote is British athlete of the year, it makes sense to me. If it is British athlete of the decade maybe farah would be back on top?
May if Farah didn't dope he would have won. Seems the public are finally catching on.
Rutherford is an athlete and Farah is a protected drugged-up fitness jogger with 12.9 speed, slower than a lot of high school girls. Simple.
greg got lucky the 2 americans fouled their best jump by trivial amounts
dendy looked to have launched a 8.60 in qualifying which he protested was legit :

here is jump :

they robbed him of shot in the final, where if he'd matched 8.60 in any of his 6 jumps he wouda blown away greg

It's amazing how 'lucky' Greg Rutherford manages to be, time and time again.
his biggest talent is being consistent in majors when it's pretty much guaranteed he'll go 8.30/8.40
if the other guys can't handle their nerves, he will win as he did here
if one of those guys who include much better intrinsic talents, handles their nerves & jump to their potential, they will hammer him, as menkov did in moscow in '13
until dendy/henderson came along this year, apart from menkov, this is lowest talent-era in the event in last 40y
until rutherford jumps wind-legal 8.60 in a prestigious meet, he won't be regarded as an all-time great even though he's got the full set of golds

Votes were cast by voters ringing the doorbells of their preferred athletes. Rutherford recorded way more rings than Farah did.

No British record for Greg this year, that was last year. He has though successfully improved his reputatuon this year as being more likeable, outspoken and very accessible to fans.
yes this is racism. Rutherford is a product of white privilege

No, Farah didn't .... Unless you count his World record 2-mile indoors, breaking Kenenisa Bekele's record in the process. Or his HM, where he also set a European record. And he came within a whisker of his own 1500m record.
Oh, and he did win double gold medals in the world champs, making it back to back golds. No one else has even repeated that double in consecutive WC OG and WC meets, right? So yeah, the white guy who jumps did great.
I know quite a few British runners that have competed at the NCAA level. A lot of them disregard Farah as a Brit because he emigrated there from Somalia and lives in the US. It's actually really hard to think of him as a British athlete if you think about it that way.
From having zero media profile, things like this happened to Rutherford this year
Plus there was a growing perception of him being unfairly underrated, there is only so long you can put wins down to luck.

Is "fouled by trivial amount" a brand new concept in the long jump? I don't remember encountering it before.
if he'd matched 8.60 in any of his 6 jumps he wouda blown away greg
And if he'd jumped 9.20 he'd have a new world record. Unless he fouled by a non-trivial amount I suppose.
In the real world, however, his personal best is still shorter than Rutherford's winning jump in the final in Beijing.
If farah had won, would you have started a thread questioning racism against Rutherford? Please give this kind of thinking a rest. It is well past the spoilt date.
LOL .... Post of the day.Surprised it hasn't been deleted yet. Mods must be busy this weekend.

So white peoples votes don't count? Non Muslim votes don't count?
Foule.
