Especially the guy that ran 2:18:02 on the lean. This was the right move.

I agree it was the right move, but I think that both Jesse Davis (2:18:02) and Chris Lemon (2:18:06) were guaranteed admission anyways with the old standard; USOC tends to make exceptions if you're very close (~5 seconds or less) to the standard, so it's likely that any 2:19:05 guys will get in as well.

Can't speak for the guys, but I've never known this to happen on the women's side of the house
Sucks for these Women from last Sunday at CIM. How many would have made it if they had this information 1 week ago and could have paced for 2:45 instead of going for 2:43 and blowing up.

How and why do Women 8 f^cking minutes!!!!!!!
Our article on this quick action (congrats to them for doing something quick) by USATF is now up:
We were in the process of trying to figure out if USATF was required to do so by the Ted Stevens Amateur sports act. It's an interesting read for sure.
It's online here:
Good to see that it's in effect for this year; must be a pleasant surprise for all the 2:18:xx guys.

Great coverage, exactly the reason why LetsRun trumps flotrack

" Laura Harnish (2:42:09), Erin Moeller (2:42:27), Samantha McClellan (2:42:41), Emily Potter (2:42:56)"
Why are these ladies included in your list of people affected by this time adjustment? They qualified under the 2:43 time anyway.

Because we were listing women who gained the Olympic standard (which used to be 2:42). Before the change, they had the OT standard but not the Olympic standard.
Wow look at the list and times of athletes throughout the world that will not be going. Its endless.
Are those chip times?
I think the rule was they'd make an exception if the start time was over by a little, but the chip time was under.
So none of those athletes listed would be allowed in, right?
Rojo, does this mean that everyone that has run those times from the beginning of the qualifying period LAST year of 2014, even at Grandma's/CIM/Boston will also be allowed in? (just because the courses are not Olympic standard, but USATF will accept them for the Trials only). Or do only people who ran 2:19/2:45 in 2015 ONLY and NOT at those races? That does change the number of people who get in.
blair teal ran a 2.18.53 at medtronics 2014. he is listed here, click on marathon men statuhttp://www.usatf.org/Events---Calendar/2016/U-S--Olympic-Team-Trials---Marathon/Status-of-Entries.aspxs of entry.
