Idiot. It was a slow, tactical race in the heat and hills. They ran fine.

Losing a "tactical" race won in 10+ minutes over your PR is bad tactics.

If they ran fine, why did they finish 5th and 6th?

What are you talking about? They went through halfway in 1:09+. The top guys negative split, in the heat/over hills, while Craig and Tim ran even splits. That's not "bombing". They were 5 min off their qualifying performances at the cool and flat Chicago/Houston courses. The women were 6 min off PRs, to give perspective.

This course does NOT run five minutes slow.

Yes it does.
The course was very very difficult. The winner Richer Perez probably has 2:12 potential, but he never ran outside of the typical Caribbean courses, with heat and humidity.
There were too much turns, hills, and 4 laps around the same circuit, over 10k for every lap.
Leon and Young did fine. And besides that Tyler McCandless, is not on the level of the medalists.
Do you think we should have sent Hall instead?

No at least these guys finished the race
I believe that in the only marathon that Ryan Hall has finished in the last 3 years (Boston 2014), Craig Leon beat him by 3 minutes.
Hall blew up and jogged it in,doesn't mean crap.

Oh really, I'm sorry which marathon in the last 3 years should I use as a measuring stick. You choose.

No, it doesn't.
See how easy that is, stupid?
There are not five minutes worth of hills in Toronto.
Hint: the NYC marathon runs 2-3 minutes slow.
Ryan Hall is not running this course without getting appearance money.
Rob Watson:
"The race was run under warm and humid conditions. Four of 18 runners could not finish the race. Another dropped out before the start.
“It made for a very challenging day. It was definitely a grind,” Watson said."
I find it interesting that a Cuban has run three marathons with no losses.

NYC isn't run in 65-70+ degrees with 80-90% humidity. Yes it was 5-6 min. slow. Top women were around 6 min. off their PRs (higher humidity). Top men 5 min. off (a little cooler). Top race walkers for 20K were 2-3 min. off their PRs, yet they didn't have to run up through High Park. The Canadians wilted, and most of the guys in the field were drenched by the end. The heat-trained guys from further south weren't sweating as much, so heat and being heat trained was definitely a factor.
