With all due respect, I think the men's 1500 is the marquis event. Besides kiplagat and souileman, most everyone who is anyone is going to be there.

Let's get real here. About 2 people in Europe care about distance events. As far as what people are going to want to watch:
Shot Put - Joe Kovacs (and Christain Cantwell, Reese Hoffa, and Ryan Whiting) vs. David Storl. It wouldn't surprise me if this is the #1 event for the Europeans, and since Kovacs has thrown this year significantly further than Storl's PB, the latter has something to prove.
Javelin - Yego against Pitkamaki. Can the Kenyan do it again?
4X100 men and women - This site claims to be the "home of distance running and track and field" and you can't mention that Monaco is the training camp for the Us relay teams. There are two US teams for men and women each competing, but the French men's team might be interesting.
Long Jump - Can anyone even get close to Bartoletta? They can probably mail her the Beijing gold right now.
Womens 200 - 17-year-old Kaylin Whitney against all of the top people save Felix. Whitney already has the Junior WR and the 4 fastest timees ever run, and she probably gets another one.
Mens 100 - With the US relay team here, this is a repeat of the US Nationals, with Gatlin, Gay, and Bromell We'll see if Bromell is cooked yet, and if Bledmon and Vicaut can hang (for sure they can't hang with Gatlin).

Is 6 inches significantly further? 22.35 to 22.20
No. Whitney is #8 on the all-time Junior list in the 200.
1500 is least likely to be amazingly fast. Kiprop has been running mediocrely and there's nobody else to lead the way to the rarefied air of way-under-3:30.
It would be more interesting to see who can outkick who between Farah and Makhloufi.

I say that if I see any race where the 'real' contenders don't go with the pace-setters, I'm gonna call for an end to pace-setting in that distance. I just can't take it anymore. Pace-setters 10, 15, 20+ meters ahead looks terrible.

Mens 100 - with Gatlin, Gay
THIS
Gatlin looks super BUFF this season and personally I am glad that Gay's back, too. I mean, in the end it wasn't his fault. He trusted someone whom he should not have trusted. We've all been there.
I predict the winner of the 100m will have the most game after the event with those super HAWT Monaco topless chicks.
so does dibaba run away and hide and try to win alone... or does she run with the pack at 4:00 pace?
I sort of hope she tries to run away with it so maybe she'll drag JBS to an american record...but I suspect dibaba will run with the pack and it will be a normal 3:58-4:02 race.

That's a pretty big asterisk. That's like a 5K that doesn't have Farah and Ndiku. Yeah, you would still have Kejelcha or Longosiwa, but it won't feel "definitive"
Whoever wins the women's 1500m is the best in the world right now in that event. The same cannot be said about the men's 1500m.
Xfit_guy, you are always on point. I think I love you. And I'm a dude. #confused

If she follows the pacers, then runs like she did last week, she will win for sure. Sifan Hassan, running behind the pack, is not going to be a factor..
If she stays with the pack, there is a chance that she'd in a bad position at the bell and lose to both Simpson and Hassan

You're not in love, you're MIRIN. And that's ok.
On a serious note, dudes frequently compliment me on my muscle mass. Usually they're seeking for shortcuts/advise. When I tell them that it takes hard work, a lot of food and dedication, they usually become less interested.

... This is tough.
I hate Makhloufi so much. Like 11/10. Mo is only a 10 on the hate scale. I'm really hoping Makhloufi beats Farah in the 300m this weekend.
Usually the men's 1500 is ridiculous here and compared to past years it's a bit down ... no Kiplagat, Souleiman, or Kwemoi. Other than that everyone seems to be here. Just goes to show how insane the field has been last few years.
I am still really looking forward to it, but it wouldn't surprise me if we don't see a sub-3:30 clocking this time around. Kiprop hasn't been his dominant self and I could see him hanging back and kicking, instead of going right with the rabbits.
The last 3 years the winning time here has been 3:27, 3:27 and 3:28. I think eventually you have to get a "down" year (for any particular event) at every meet.
If Kiprop isn't leading, I don't really see anyone else willing to push for a fast time and risk blowing up at the end.
Watch out for Robert Biwott ... already ran 3:31.39 this year and a 1:43.56 a little over a week ago to go with that.
If it does go fast (still a possibility, of course) I'd like to see how fast Makhloufi could go. He ran 3:30.80 in 2012, 3:30.40 last year, and a 3:30.50 this year already. Have to think he is capable of around 3:28 if he has a perfect race.
It's on TV on beIN Sports, which gets streamed online with Comcast.

I'm hoping Simpson, Coburn, and Centro get ARs. That would be great, and in the case of Simpson and Centro more than a bit ironic.
