He is back to training from his injury and opened his season with an 800 (1:48) and a 1500 (3:39).

I remember when I was just getting back into the swing of things and ran 3:39 and 1:48...........
Good start but, to be clear, those are altitude converted times, He ran 3:44 in the 1500.
Results (unconverted): 3:44.24 for first in 1500 today; 1:49.46 for second in 800 last night.

I'm not diminishing the results, just providing all of the data. I've lived and trained at 6000 plus feet myself and respect what it takes.
I apologize I didn't know he was giving the converted times

Yeah, me too...for 1200 and 600
christ he must have been in the pool or on the elliptical for 3h a day to miss several weeks and then run those times. my Fr year of college i opened indoors with an 8:50 3K but noticed a pain in my foot the following week. missed 4 weeks of running but pooled 2-3 times a day, going pretty much balls-out for at least part of every session. when 4 weeks was up i jogged easy for 7 days, and then ran the exact same 3K time at our conference meet. i was never more sore in my life the next day. i have not pool ran since and want to puke when i smell chlorine.

Glad he's getting into some bigger races this outdoor season so he can hopefully learn how to race.

What was wrong w/ his race at Husky Classic?
Running at big regular season time trial meets and championship racing is two different things
Plus, how did you expect him to beat Cheserek? He had to mix something up, he did what he could, he got 2nd to Chez, that's not bad at all...

Nope 2nd wasn't bad, it was excellent. However, watching him race, he is more like a freshman than a senior. The more experience he gets racing the top guys, the better. As for what he should have tried at indoor nats that would have been better? Anything, literally anything else.
Stupid or not, watching a mid-race 53 was pretty sweet. Ballsy as heck.
Not sure if he'll keep his form for 2 more months, but assuming he does, he will be a force at USAs. I'm expecting a monster race from him at Mt. Sac.
He should be top 3 at USAs as long as he doesnt go bananas trying to win it mid race.

How disappointed he race like a freshman? He ran brilliantly at nationals and was beaten by a better runner, who by the way, ran the exact same splits.
SORATOS IS BACK BABY!!!!!
Was a school record in the 1500:

Not a bad way to open after sitting out with injury.

the ellipticial isnt really that bad. watch a tv episode on your phone, no working against gravity like treadmill running...everything just goes automatically.
It's gotta be the socks.
