Has anyone run the Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham? If so, can you give me the lowdown on the course? Also, are there any decent Italian restaurants in the area? Thanks.

I did, but I got The Benz.
I have not run it, but I am familiar with it as I live in B'ham. The course has a beast of a hill at mile 9-10, and a few that are deceptively hard at the end. It rolls for the last few miles. Let me know if there is something else.
Lots of positive comments at the MarathonGuide website, though some folks didn't care for the big hill at 9 miles.

does the winner get a mercedes?
My understanding is that for the actual 2004 Trials race, they will do a criterium-style race of three or so laps, BUT I thought the "Peoples' Race" the day before would be a different route. So,what will they do this year when they mix Galloways and elites?
